It's improving in Tampa bay.

I'm really just starting blogging and I've still a little timid and don't know what to say. I read where in the Tri-county Tampa Bay area re-sales are up 29% for Sept. That is better than most of the other areas in Florida. I've noticed that I get more call on my listings now. Of course, offers in most cases are ridiculously low, but this is the most optimistic that I have felt in along time. I have tried to keep all negativity out of my thoughts and presentations, but it's hard when you read the newspaper or watch TV. Of course this an improvement from Sept.07, which was not a good year either, but hooray it's getting better!! I have decided that I will be as up-beat as I possibly can. Negativity is "out the door". This year is winding down and next year will be my best year ever, because I'm going to make it so. I know that I have to change my attitude to be productive and I will do it. I'm always looking for ideas to help me be better in my business dealings, so I will be reading more of the Active Rain blogs.

Talking about quaint little Tarpon Springs, FL

Tarpon Springs is a quaint little town with a Greek Heritage. It was the Sponge Diving capital of the world at one time. I drove out on the Sponge Docks today and was thinking how very scenic it is, with the boats, the souvenier shops, and the Greek restaurants. There are always plenty of tourists walking around checking out the natural sponges.

The Downtown is made up of small businesses in older buildings. There is antique shops, restaurants, a department store/shoe repair, and a butcher shop. There is a large beautiful Greek Church that is a great place for weddings and other occasions. Right down from downtown is the Spring Bayou. They have the famous Greek Epipany Celebration and the Diving for the Cross.

I wish I could put in writing what a wonderful place to live Tarpon Springs is. There are many small towns in Florida, but none are like beautiful Tarpon Springs.

Back to the real estate part of this blog. Tarpon Springs homes ranging from ones that are historic with wrap around porches overlooking the Bayous , to new condos, to small fixer-uppers. There are all price ranges to choose from. Come and visit this wonderful area and you'll fall in love.

Why Tampa Bay?

I have been a Realtor in the Tampa Bay area for over 20 years. When deciding to start this blog I had to ask myself what I would write about and why I love living and working here.

The highlights -

It is warm and sunny almost every day! According to the Pinellas County website we have ONLY on average of 361 days of sunny weather each year, WOW!

One of our local beaches (Caladesi Island State Park Winner of the 2008 "Top Beach In America Award") has been named the top beach IN THE WORLD! This beach is part of the Dunedin / Honeymoon Island area on the Gulf of Mexico. Clearwater Beach is also a favorite of many people looking to go somewhere it is warm.

There are great sports teams like The Tampa Bay Rays, The Buccaneers, and the Storm.

There is a golf course behind every rock and the award winning Island course at Innisbrook is legendary!

All that, affordable housing (especially compared to Naples and South Florida) and what is not to love about te Tampa Bay area?
