Realtors and Affordable Housing Solutions - 10/25/06 09:09 AM
As home values throughout Florida increased considerably over the past five years (doubling or tripling in many of Florida's metropolitan areas), the dream of homeownership became more difficult for some to attain.  Florida Governor Jeb Bush recently signed HB 1589 which establishes the "Support Homeownership for All" specialty license plate with proceeds targeted to provide money for affordable housing programs.  These license plates are expected to be available for purchase by next summer.  Has any other state's association of Realtors® come up with any solution(s) to the attainable workforce housing crisis?

Fort Lauderdale, Florida Information - 10/25/06 09:06 AM
Fort Lauderdale, sometimes referred to as the "Venice of America" for its seemingly endless miles of waterways, is one of South Florida's hot spots.  It is also the county seat of Broward County - the heart of South Florida's Gold Coast.
Originally attracting Spring Break college students by the droves (inspired by the 1960 movie Where the Boys Are), Fort Lauderdale has been attracting a more sophisticated and affluent population in recent decades.  For those that enjoy the boating lifestyle, Fort Lauderdale is a wonderful place to call home.  The extensive network of canals throughout the Greater Fort Lauderdale area lead … (3 comments)

Who do you know named Michael? - 10/11/06 01:42 PM
Whether you're new to the real estate business or a seasoned veteran, it never hurts to jog your memory to come up with a list of people from your past and present to keep in touch with.  At some point in time all of these people can use your services to help them buy or sell property, but they may not know or remember you're in real estate because you haven't kept in touch!  Before starting this list, have a goal in mind of how many people you'd like on it and revise the goal from time to time.  You may … (16 comments)

Crediting Other ActiveRainers - 10/08/06 02:54 PM
Wanting to give credit where credit is due, Carole Cohen - a relatively new blogger - asked for some help in ActiveRain's "Feedback and Technical Issues" Forum.  She wanted to know how to make a link appear when she mentions someone else on her ActiveRain blog.  For any of you who perhaps don't know the answer, I provided a detailed how-to here.

ActiveRain is a Community
Carole's request made me decide to write this blog post about WHY she wanted to learn how to link.  You see... ActiveRain is a community and as a community, we should help each other out (as … (12 comments)

Flash Drive - a Great Portable Storage Device - 10/07/06 03:03 PM
Remember way back when we used to store data on floppy disks and then later, the 3.5" diskettes?  Change is constant... especially when it comes to technology! If you have not yet been introduced to flash drives, let me do so now.  A flash drive (a.k.a. thumb drive or pen drive) is a small, portable device used to save information externally - information that perhaps you don't want stored on a hard drive.  The amount of memory they hold varies.  I've seen anything from a 16MB to a 4GB (that's right... 4 gigabytes)!  Most can be attached to a keychain or … (13 comments)
