Crystal Beach Florida - A Beautiful December Day - 12/31/11 10:00 AM
Crystal Beach Florida - A Beautiful December Day

Crystal Beach is such a wonderful place to live. I love taking time to walk down to the seashore and just sit and watch the birds while I relax and listen to the waves rolling slowly on shore.

Having grown up in the area, a large part of my life has been spent along the shore, listening to those waves and contemplating life. I really can't think of anything more relaxing to do.

Is It Important to Copyright Your Photos? - 12/30/11 09:55 AM
While I do not attempt to copyright my photos and most of the people I know also don't, I found this article written by Myrl most interesting and wanted to share this with my fellow ActiveRainers.
I do understand that professional photographers DO copyright their work and consider that a totally different story from me attempting to copyright my photos.

Constant News Coverage Negativity - And They Are SO WRONG! - STOP The Generalizations!
This is something that REALLY drives me crazy since the general public looks to the news coverage on their television for facts on what is going on in our nation and in the housing market.
Last night we had the evening news on and it was reported that the housing market is still declining and 2012 is going to be a horrible year, just as 2011 has been. WHAT? It was my personal BEST year since I have had my Realtor license! Therefore, I beg to differ … (4 comments)

December 6th Is Nikolaustag - December's Season of Celebrations & Sharing - 12/06/11 02:25 PM
December 6th is Nikolaustag in Germany. I remember enjoying this holiday more than Christmas because it was something new to me, something I had not grown up with.

We lived in a little town just outside of Erlangen, in northern Bavaria, in a section of the country called Franken. Erlangen is a university town - I had worked on the university as a bilingual secretary in the Department of Organic Chemistry until my first child was born. I had many friends on the university and it was through them that I learned of something really wonderful that takes place in … (0 comments)

Barbara-Jo's German Fruit Bread (Schwaebisches Schnitzbrot) For The Holidays - 12/06/11 09:47 AM
Barbara-Jo’s German Fruit Bread (Schwaebisches Schnitzbrot) for the Holidays

Most of the dried fruit comes from the health food store but a few things are from Publix. The dried fruits are figs, dates, pineapple, mango and papaya. This gives it a typical tropical flavor which I think is great for Florida! In Germany they use dry pears, apples, plums, raisins - so consider this Schwaebisches Schnitzbrot with a tropical flare!

All the fruit is cut into SMALL pieces - an example of how small I mean is that I take each dried fig, cut off the stem and then … (4 comments)

Lagerheads Grill In Tarpon Springs Florida - 12/03/11 09:45 AM
Lagerheads Grill in Tarpon Springs Florida was our destination for lunch today. It was one of those days when you just feel like eatting out and Lagerheads just re-opened and changed their name from Snookers.

They still have the gator tank out back where you can see live Florida alligators up close and personal but our destination was lunch.

I had the filet mignon and Ron had the roast beef. Both were excellent as was the salad. If you have not tried Lagerheads on Alternate 19 in Tarpon Springs since it re-opened, it is worth a trip.

Dragonfly Garden In Downtown Dunedin Florida - 12/02/11 09:36 AM
The Dragonfly Garden in downtown Dunedin Florida is one of my favorite destinations (yes, I do have many favorites).

This time I was doing a combination of shopping for a closing gift and doing some Christmas shopping, so what could possibly be better than shopping a local small business?!

I love the selection at the Dragonfly Garden - it is so eclectic, you always find so many possibilities. Narrowing them all down is the only problem.

While you are out doing your Holiday shopping be sure to stop by the Dragonfly Garden at 730 Broadway in downtown … (6 comments)

Billy's Tarpon Turtle Restaurant - Tarpon Springs Florida - 12/01/11 07:24 AM
Billy's Tarpon Turtle Restaurant at 1513 Lake Tarpon Avenue in Tarpon Springs Florida has re-opened!

Ron and I decided to have lunch out today and had heard that the Tarpon Turtle had re-opened under new management so we drove over to Lake Tarpon to check it out.
Located directly on Lake Tarpon, the Tarpon Turtle has always been one of my personal local spots! The views are fantastic and if you are out boating on the lake, you can dock right at the restaurant and have your lunch or drinks before getting back in your boat.

December's Season Of Celebrations & Sharing Contest - 12/01/11 07:22 AM
December’s Season of Celebrations & Sharing Contest is a time to not only get out local information on what is going on in your communities but also share on how you and others are sharing with those less fortunate. There are so many possibilities for blog posts during December that I do not think it is too much to ask for 6 blog posts during the month. The posts should all be localism posts, announcing events that are going on for and in your communities. Please remember that these events need to be related to the Season of Celebrations & Sharing, … (218 comments)
