dunedin fl localism: Honeymoon Island State Park Has A Pet Beach! - 04/09/12 09:35 AM
Honeymoon Island State Park has a pet beach!

Yes, it is true! While the main beach area is off limits to pets, Honeymoon Island State Park just off the shore of Dunedin Florida, has it's very own pet beach where you can bring Pooche and even shower him off before getting back into the car again!

This is just one more reason why Honeymoon Island State Park is such a great place to visit! Annual passes are also available! Check at the gate!

dunedin fl localism: Dunedin Florida - An Early Morning Walk - 03/27/12 06:58 AM
Dunedin Florida is a beautiful little eclectic community right along the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. It is one of my favorite places to go for lunch, shopping or just a quiet walk along the shore under the shade of the Live Oak trees.

Since Dunedin is only a ten minute drive south of Crystal Beach Florida, where I live, I tend to be there a lot! I really love the brick lined streets of the downtown area and all of the funky little shops.

Walking along the shore, looking out at the sleepy waters of the Gulf … (14 comments)

dunedin fl localism: EVERYBODY Catches Fish Off The Dunedin Causeway In Florida - 03/15/12 05:05 AM
Everybody catches fish off the Dunedin Causeway in Florida, as you can see from these photos.

Ronnie decided on Monday that he wanted to go down to the causeway for a couple of hours, so while I went for a 5 mile walk on the causeway, he did a little fishing.

He was not the only one fishing, this Blue Heron was also busy working on getting a late breakfast. As you can see from the photo, he had to work on getting this one into his mouth but he did succeed.

Dunedin Causeway, off the coast of … (7 comments)

dunedin fl localism: Dunedin Causeway - Florida Sun, Blue Skies - Who Can Ask For More? - 03/13/12 04:16 AM
Dunedin Causeway - Florida sun, blue skies - indeed, who can ask for more? Dunedin Florida offers a great place for walks and runs in the Florida sun right on the causeway!

Those of us who live here are spoiled, there is no doubt! We have some of the most beautiful beaches in the country at our doorsteps.

Perhaps that is why there are always so many people taking advantage of the great weather to walk the Dunedin Causeway out to Honeymoon Island State Park! This 5-mile trip out and back again is a great way to start the … (11 comments)

Dunedin Brewery - Dunedin Florida - Great Music & The Best Beer Around!

Dunedin Brewery, located at 937 Douglas Avenue in beautiful downtown Dunedin Florida is THE place to head if you want great local beer! Dunedin Brewery is the oldest microbrewery in the state of Florida and the only place I know of that makes an Apricot Peach Ale that is the perfect thing on a hot summer afternoon!
In addition to a great selection of beers and a wide variety of tempting treats to go with your beer, Dunedin Brewery brings in  some of the best artists … (2 comments)

dunedin fl localism: Spoto's Steak Joint - Dunedin Florida - 02/22/12 01:13 PM
Spoto's Steak Joint in Dunedin Florida was our destination this afternoon to celebrate two closings in just as many days. Ron felt like having a good steak and there is no better place around for that than Spoto's Steak Joint on Main Street in Dunedin Florida.

We shared the potato soup with bread rolls that had slices of Kalamata black olives baked into them. What a wonderful idea!

The great thing about Spoto's Steak Joint is that beside offering the best steaks around, it is one local restaurant that serves a fantastic selection of game entrees ranging from wild … (2 comments)

Mama Osprey Guards Her Nest In The Over Stirling Links - Dunedin Florida

While at Stirling Links driving range with Ronnie this week, I noticed mama osprey busy working on her nest and since she spent a good amount of time sitting in it as well, I am going to guess that there just might be a baby or two on the way.

Stirling Links driving range was formerly called St Andrew's Links, located on Palm Avenue and Alternate 19, just a couple of blocks away from St Joseph's Sound and the sparkling waters of the Gulf of … (14 comments)

dunedin fl localism: Dunedin Florida - Recycling Center On Michigan Avenue - 02/15/12 03:40 PM
Dunedin Florida - Recycling Center on Michigan Avenue, just west of the Dunedin Fine Arts Center

While many communities offer curbside recycling pickup, not everyone has that service and for those who don't, the City of Dunedin offers a great recycling center on Michigan Avenue, between the Dunedin Fine Arts Center and Alt 19.
The only thing that this recycling center does not take (and I can't find any general recycling center around that takes it) is COLORED GLASS. They take clear glass but not green or brown.......which I really don't understand since when I lived in Germany back … (3 comments)

dunedin fl localism: Honeymoon Island State Park - Just Off The Coast Of Dunedin Florida - 02/08/12 10:28 AM
Honeymoon Island State Park is just off the coast of Dunedin Florida. It is one of my favorite beaches to go to and a beach that is popular with locals!

There are grills for those who want to cook their own lunch, as well as a cafe that offers lunch for those who don't want to have to carry their groceries with them to the beach.

What I like about this beach is that I can take a book and enjoy an hour in the sun between clients. There are swings and benches to relax on and restroom facilities … (7 comments)

dunedin fl localism: Dragonfly Garden In Downtown Dunedin Florida - 12/02/11 09:36 AM
The Dragonfly Garden in downtown Dunedin Florida is one of my favorite destinations (yes, I do have many favorites).

This time I was doing a combination of shopping for a closing gift and doing some Christmas shopping, so what could possibly be better than shopping a local small business?!

I love the selection at the Dragonfly Garden - it is so eclectic, you always find so many possibilities. Narrowing them all down is the only problem.

While you are out doing your Holiday shopping be sure to stop by the Dragonfly Garden at 730 Broadway in downtown … (6 comments)

dunedin fl localism: Dunedin Florida Lake Front Home Closed Today - 11/30/11 05:01 PM
Today we closed on a great home lake front home in Dunedin Florida. I met the buyers for the final walk through and took this photo of Nicole and Luke in front of their new home before we headed to the closing table.

I am sure that they will have many years of happiness in their beautiful new home. It is great that they are able to move in before Christmas and spend this Holiday Season as their first in this lovely house!

Dunedin Florida is a fantastic community since they always have so many activities going on.
