The red mangroves are the ones that grow with their feet, called prop roots, totally in the salt water of the inlets and bayous. Those prop roots have given the red mangrove the nickname of 'walking tree' (photo below).

I thought that might get your attention! This sea turtle over Crystal Beach Florida has spent the last couple of years up on this balcony, watching people walking by below. From time to time, he changes his position and sometimes goes to the balcony a floor lower, but he is always looking out to sea, wondering why he isn't there.
I love taking my morning walks and passing by this house with the sea turtle on the top balcony. The kids, naturally, think this is a cool addition!
