Today that is where I headed for lunch with my son after a 6.1 mile walk through John Chesnut Park in Palm Harbor. While Sascha had the fish taco, I decided on the soy glazed tuna chop salad and am SO glad I did. It was truly a wonderful choice and one of the latest additions to the menu. The red mangroves are the ones that grow with their feet, called prop roots, totally in the salt water of the inlets and bayous. Those prop roots have given the red mangrove the nickname of 'walking tree' (photo below).
In addition to the red mangrove, we have the black mangroves. They are the ones that line the shore with what look like fingers reaching up out of the soil. They do not grow with the long legs of the water-loving red (17 comments)

I thought that might get your attention! This sea turtle over Crystal Beach Florida has spent the last couple of years up on this balcony, watching people walking by below. From time to time, he changes his position and sometimes goes to the balcony a floor lower, but he is always looking out to sea, wondering why he isn't there.
I love taking my morning walks and passing by this house with the sea turtle on the top balcony. The kids, naturally, think this is a cool addition!

The Sweet Spot In Crystal Beach Florida - Ice Cream & So Much More! The Sweet Spot is our local Crystal Beach Florida ice cream shop. Located on the corner of Alternate 19 and Crystal Beach Avenue, it is one of those places that is ‘technically’ located in Crystal Beach but has a Palm Harbor mailing address! Kim Verheyleweghen purchased the shop from the previous owner in March of 2011 and the place has seen an amazing transformation! Besides offering Working Cow Ice Cream (made here in Pinellas County), the Sweet Spot also offers many homemade items: fudge, wedding cakes, carrot (8 comments)
