Helen Ga Real Estate " Helen Haunting?" - 10/31/08 10:50 AM
Well, is there Helen haunting? yes and no. Yes there will be many "haunts" to visit in Helen, but as far as I can see there are no real histories of haunted places in Helen. You can do the research yourself, and if you find something please let me know. I can only find the nearest "haunting" to have been in Cleveland, at the Friendship Nursing Home. But you won't miss the fun in Helen, if you visit this weekend. There is always plenty to do and it is still Oktober! Friends are coming up from Florida this weekend to enjoy (0 comments)
Helen Ga Real Estate "Get Me to the Church on Time" - 10/31/08 10:27 AM
Just a reminder to turn back your clocks on Saturday evening. Otherwise you will be the early arrival at Church! Now, if you are going to Church in the northeast Georgia area, try visiting Clarkesville, just a few miles from Helen. Clarkesville has many Churches for you to attend, but you may want to consider Grace Calvary Episcopal for either the 8:30 am service of the 11:00 am service. WHY? Because after the service there is a huge "Happening"! What is the Happening? Heritage Festival, the celebration of the history of Clarkesville and our Church built in 1842. On Saturday morning from 10-4 (0 comments)
Helen Ga Real Estate "Are You Here Yet?" - 10/31/08 12:03 AM
If you are coming to Helen for the weekend, you will enjoy color and good weather! The trees are turning and there are riots of color to enjoy. Reds, Yellows, Oranges, Golds mingle with the remaining green leaves for a great display. Looking at the Blue Ridge Mountain ranges you will see sights worthy of autumn. Bring your camera, light jacket and a container to take home some fall leaves to display with your pumpkins for Thanksgiving. You will need a weekend to enjoy Helen, Batesville, Sautee, Lake Burton, Cleveland and Clarkesville. If you are fortunate enough to own a motorcycle, (0 comments)
Helen Ga Real Estate "Are You Ready to Vote?" - 10/30/08 09:10 AM
I do not intend this to become anything other than a reminder of our right to vote. I personally have already voted, because I will be working at the polls on election day. I get there at 6 am and leave who knows when and I am happy to do it. (Yes there is a small check received for the 12plus hour day) But my point is to tell you what I see at the polls on election day. I have seen one person who comes in a wheel chair and has not missed a vote in 3 years I have (0 comments)
Helen Ga Real Estate "Foilage Update Northeast Georgia/Helen" - 10/29/08 09:53 AM
Yes, the foilage is beautiful. If you visit Helen, or surrounding areas of Batesville, Lake Burton, Clarkesville, Cleveland, Sautee-Nacoochee or Dahlonega, you will indeed see some beautiful colors. Here in the Helen area, you have two more days of jacket weather It is 10:30 am and the temp is still under 50 degrees, going up to only 57, if the weather wizards are to be believed! The weekend will be somewhat warmer, but keep that jacket and hat in the car! On the Chattahoochee river it is a little warmer and the trees turn a little more slowly than inland and on (0 comments)
Helen Ga Real Estate "Will My Home Close on Time?" Maybe, Maybe Not! - 10/28/08 07:35 PM
Okay, you have an accepted contract on your home. The inspections have all been resolved, the due diligence period has passed, you have prepared for your move. You have a closing scheduled on your home at your new destination right after your closing here! You have scheduled sitters, purchased crates for the dog and cat to travel with you, called the movers, packed up all your personal belongings, you have called the utility companies here and at your new location. You have scheduled the last day of school for your children. You have asked your sister to come and help you out on (0 comments)
Helen Ga Real Estate Homes "This Week in Helen" - 10/27/08 11:28 AM
Okay, today is still a great day to visit, but you may think it is March, not October. Wind gusts make you want to think about flyiing a kite today. But today is warm compared with the weather wizards predicitions for the next few days. We may even get our first freeze here..frost on the Pumpkin? YES! Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be the coldest days WWs say, making for a more comfortable weekend. Don't forget your heavier jackets and hats for the children if you are coming up this week. Be sure you don't forget to pick up some pumpkins. (0 comments)
Helen Ga Real Estate "This Week in Living Color" - 10/26/08 08:33 AM
Sunday is beautiful, temps will be in low 70s here in Helen, but watch out for the rest of the week, if you come to Helen, bring your jackets! We will be in low 40s and 30s on Mon, Tues, and Weds, IF the weather wizards know what they are talking about for our area! What does this mean besides bring your jackets? It means you can enjoy the fireplace in the cabin you have rented for the weekend, curl up in a thick throw, read a book or just watch the leaves fall from inside! When you are forced out (0 comments)
Helen Ga Real Estate "Don't Miss It" - 10/25/08 11:50 PM
Saturday was beautiful, the rain left early in the morning and bright skies where only dimmed by the number of leaves falling to the ground. What a beautiful time of year in these foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The maples are just beginning to change their colors from green to yellow, orange, gold and red. I think most of the acorns have fallen, at least I am not hearing the bullet-like sounds all during the day and night. And yes, my decks and driveway are covered in those acorns. Bailey, my little lion dog has brought in a hundred of (0 comments)
Helen Ga Real Estate "A Rainy Night in Georgia" - 10/24/08 10:06 PM
To all the "leaf lookers" today and tonight have been rainy. But the weather wizards say that tomorrow will be beautiful in the Northeast Georgia Mountains and Swiss Alpine Helen! Pack up the car and come on over to visit. The leaves are changing and falling. Hopefully the next two weekends will be great for the viewing and photographing the colors of fall. We have so very many points of interest in the area, you will definitely have a difficult time choosing, if you are only coming for one day! Gas prices have fallen and we have no gas shortage in (0 comments)
Helen Ga Real Estate "When is a good time to buy? Am I ready to BUY??" - 10/23/08 02:10 PM
Now. Now is a good time to buy real estate in northeast Georgia. Why? Because you don't have as much competition for the home you like and want to purchase. Because everyone else is shying away from making a decision until after the election. Because people who have to relocate are willing to take less if you have a good offer. What is a good offer? One that does not have strings attached. One that comes with a letter from the buyers' lender stating the buyers have their loan in place and are ready to close. One that comes WITHOUT a (2 comments)
Helen Ga Real Estate "What can a Real Estate Agent Do for Me?" - 10/23/08 01:56 PM
A good question! A better one is "What can MY Real Estate Agent Do for Me?" With things as they are today and so many places on line to look, so many things available to "look" at the property through Google, Google Earth, Mapquest, you name it, you may be tempted to drive by and look at everything and then contact an agent. Well, that is okay, but not the best use of your time. I am a full time real estate agent. No, I have not seen every property out there, but I have seen many of them. But if (0 comments)

Helen Ga Real Estate "How is the Color?" - 10/17/08 08:54 AM
How is the color? Getting there is the answer! My oaks are turning slowly, the acorns pelt the roof and deck with shotgun like retorts! Never have I seen so many acorns fall. The actually hurt if they happen to hit your head. My car had to be parked in a clear area! THe pets are becoming accustomed to the acorns raining down, but at first actually ran from the noise. The dogwoods berries are red and beautiful. Leaves cover the drive now, and it is beautiful. Now is not the favorite time of year for the gardner who likes a spotless yard. (2 comments)
Helen Ga Real Estate "Are the Leaves Changing Yet?" - 10/15/08 08:05 PM
Helen Georgia should enjoy visitors from near and far this leaf season! Gas prices are coming down and that will bring out "leaf lookers" as the locals call them, from Atlanta, South Georgia and Florida! The recent rains should work in favor of good color this season. Reports from the local weather people say it will probably be next weekend before the color hits its peak. However, the weather people have been wrong before. You probably will stand a chance of seeing our area in its fall glory for the next two weekends, but the week end of the 17th is (5 comments)
Helen GA Real Estate "Have We Hit Bottom Yet"? - 10/13/08 07:58 PM
Everyone is asking "Are we there yet"? Meaning, has the stock market hit bottom? No one know for sure, but we are about as close as we are going to get. How do you know if we have hit bottom? You DON'T! Once you know we have hit bottom, we are on our way up! It is like asking what the winning lottery numbers are...you don't find out in time to win! Once you know the numbers it is too late to buy a ticket. In real estate once you know the market HAS hit bottom, and the key word is (2 comments)
Helen Ga Real Estate Homes "Can I Get A Loan Now?" - 10/07/08 05:11 PM
You want to buy a home. (Not steal a home, but get good value). You are moving, you are motivated and you are worried. This past week has frightened most prospective buyers. Are there loans out there, and are the rates something you can afford? The answer is probably so! Real Estate is local and what is happening in California, Colorado or Texas is not what is happening in Georgia. Your first step should be contacting a knowledgable real estate agent in the area you will be living. If you are moving anywhere in the United States, Canada or Australia, I (0 comments)
Helen Ga Real Estate "How's the Market"? - 10/06/08 04:21 PM
Helen Ga has long been a destination for tourists and visitors from Atlanta, as well as other parts of the country. "How's the Market" questions are still the number 1 question I hear, but the number 1 question right now is "How's the Gas"? Better is the answer. However as Atlanta goes, so goes Helen. I mean by that, if the people in Atlanta can't get gas, they are not coming to Helen, even for Oktoberfest! Of course once the gas situation is solved, we may get some "leaf lookers". Time changes many things, a few weeks ago we were all (0 comments)
Helen Ga Real Estate Homes Lease/Purchase options - 10/04/08 09:57 AM
Does the current economy downturn hurt possibilities of Lease/Purchase options? Perhaps it has tightened up the procedure! In the past, Buyers have been able to get into lease/purchase agreements with a minimum of problems. Now? Things are and will be changing. In the past there was a low percentage of Lease Purchase agreements that ever reached the closing table. In effect the Buyer was not able to clean up his/her credit and get a loan to close. The Seller most often ended up just being a landlord to a buyer who was not a good risk. With the credit crunch you (0 comments)
First time Helen Ga Real Estate Home Buyer - 10/02/08 07:47 PM
If you are interested in the First Time Home Buyer Tax credit of $7,500 you may have some questions. First, who is eligible for the tax credit? A first time home buyer is a person who has not owned a PRINCIPAL residence in the 3 year period prior to this purchase. If you are single, this is easy to understand, but if you are married, NEITHER husand NOR wife can qualify if either one has owned a principal residence in the 3 year perior prior to purchase. Second, the home must have been purchased (closed) between April 9, 2008 and before July 1, 2009. It can (1 comments)
Great time to Buy Helen Georgia Real Estate! - 10/01/08 08:27 PM
Everyone who has been connected to the outside world knows there is an economy probem involving a credit crunch. People are worried about investments and retirement funds. People are taking cash out of banks and putting in "under the mattress" so to speak. My suggestion is to put your cash into the land. Buy real estate now! In our Helen, Ga area many properties are on the market far under the value placed on it by the county tax appraisers in 2008!! You may not want to invest in a home, but what about unimproved land? Typically the last quarter of (0 comments)
