Pay It Forward: Taking Emma for a Walk
We have a new listing that isn't too far from our office (or our house, for that matter).  The seller has a very sweet dog, Emma.  Our seller is sure that Emma was abused in the past and she told us that Emma has a fear of men.  Our seller works during the week, so naturally she's worried about having Emma alone in the house when we have showings.  Hmmm, how are we going to solve this problem?  We want the potential buyers to have the opportunity to see the WHOLE house and … (19 comments)

My Top 10 Favorite Movies: Nicolas Cage
A career in Hollywood can be challenging when you are born with the last name Coppola.  It may be automatically assumed that you will be successful.  Nick was born Nicholas Kim Coppola.  Once he began his career, he was quick to change it to Nicolas Cage (based on a comic book character, Luke Cage).  Can you blame him?  He wanted his own identity and wanted to create his own reputation.
I hadn't realized until I started writing this post and reading more about Nicolas Cage, he tends to play some quirky and eccentric, sometimes … (23 comments)

Parker Library's First Edible Book Contest: A Big Success
The Parker Library hosted their First Edible Book Contest on Saturday, April 2.  With more than 25 entries, the event was a big success.  Children, adults, families and at least one local business had entries in this year's contest.
What is an edible book?  It is the culinary interpretation of a book cover, title, character or scene. It can be simple or complicated, funny or serious, clever, profound or pun-ish (a play on words).  Let you imagination run wild!

Another Baseball Movie
This morning I wrote a post, My Top 7 Favorite Baseball Movies.  Turns out I missed at least one more:
~The Natural (1984) Robert Redford, Robert Duvall and Glenn Close
I would personally rank this one #5 in between Bull Durham and Major League.  I love a movie that tells a good story and this is one of those movies.  Grab a beer and a hotdog and watch the trailer below.
"Let's play ball!"

At the end of my list is one of my favorite scenes from my favorite movie, "There's no crying in baseball".  If you've seen the movie, I'm sure you will remember the scene, you might even know the words!

Remembering a Hollywood Legend: Elizabeth Taylor
As part of a weekly series about the movies, I've been featuring my favorite movies of various actors.  I've also included a favorite director.  Plus, we have a discussion about our favorite James Bond.  This week I turn my attention toward Remembering a Hollywood Legend: Elizabeth Taylor.
Ms. Taylor is a reminder of the glamour that was once Hollywood.  I have to admit, prior to writing this post I didn't know very much about the lovely lady (accept for her trade-mark violet eyes).  I have since learned that she was born in England and lived there with her parents … (23 comments)

Things to do in Parker, Colorado: Edible Book Contest at the Library
Join your neighbors on Saturday, April 2nd for the FIRST Edible Book Contest at the Parker Library!  Not sure what to do?  The rules are pretty simple: 1) It must be edible and 2) it must somehow reference a book.  It can be a book title, cover, scene or character.  Use your imagination!  Entries can be funny, serious, clever, profound or pun-ish (a play on words).
Why have an Edible Book Contest, you might ask?  Why to celebrate the birthday of Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin, of course?  Who is that you might ask?  … (11 comments)

My Top 10 Favorite Movies: Director-Ron Howard
Who didn't like Ron Howard as little Opie Taylor on the Andy Griffith show, or as Richie Cunningham on Happy Days?  My favorite role for Ron Howard?  Director!  He is an amazing storyteller.  Ronald Williams Howard did what many of us wish we could do, fulfilled his dream...he became a Director!  He also wanted to become a leader in the business and I believe he accomplished that also.
Some facts about Ron HowardDid you know that Ron was a bachelor on the Dating Game in 1971?  He shares a birthday with Catherine Bach (she … (23 comments)

Pay It Forward: Pop Top Tabs II
Motivated by Dawn Fabiszak's post Pay It Forward-Pop Top Tabs, I started collecting soda can pop top tabs!  We've been saving soda cans at home and in our office for years and years.  We usually take our cans to the local grocery store (King Soopers) to recycle.  I don't know what happens to the cans after we drop them off.  I just know they are recycled.
When I read Dawn's post and learned that the tabs that she collects benefit Ronald McDonald house, I decided that I like knowing who benefits from the recycling!  … (10 comments)

donna foerster: Hi Donna, What are the Benefits of Registering on the HudHomeStore.com Website? - 03/13/11 11:57 AM
Hi Donna, What are the Benefits of Registering on the HudHomeStore.com Website?
The best place to search online for HUD homes is www.HudHomeStore.com.  A potential buyer can search for homes in any city/town, in any state in the country.  Why would you want to register on this site?  What if you want to "remain anonymous" to potential Realtors who might contact you?
#1~This is a public website.  It is not connected to any Real Estate company or Real Estate agent.  You will not be contacted by anyone.
#2~You can SAVE your searches (unlimited).  This way you don't have to enter your … (2 comments)

Jason Keith Believes in the Importance of Education
Every consumer has a choice when it comes to choosing a Real Estate Agent or a Loan Officer.  The competition is fierce. Of course helping your client to get the loan that's right for them and helping them to buy a home is the most important part of being a good Loan Officer.  However, educating consumers makes Jason Keith, with WR Starkey, a GREAT Loan Officer!

My Top 5 Favorite Movies: Rene Russo
Time to feature another Leading Lady!  I just love Rene Russo's generally SASSY characters.  If there was ever a movie made about my life, I would want Rene Russo to play me!  LOL!  I'm a huge Colorado Rockies baseball fan and it turns out she is a major Red Sox fan!  Who would have thought?  Not me!
After reading her mini biography on the Internet Movie Database, I learned that she was not immune to childhood teasing.  Her classmates called here the Jolly Green Giant.  Not very flattering!  She also attended high school with … (26 comments)

donna foerster: Hi Donna, What is a HUD Home? - 03/05/11 04:04 PM
Hi Donna, What is a HUD Home?
Before I answer that question, let's talk about the types of sellers we are seeing in today's market:
Traditional Sellers ~ These are people who are selling their home because they want or need to, because the want or need to move.  There are many reasons for traditional sellers to sell: need a bigger or smaller house, want to be closer to family, job transfer, retirement, and many other reasons.
Short Sale Sellers ~ In many cases, these sellers are facing foreclosure.  The most common reasons are loss of a spouse, loss of a … (23 comments)

My Top 10 Favorite Movies: Denzel Washington
Last Friday I thought I would change things up a bit.  Instead of focusing on a specific actor, I focused on a movie character, James Bond.  This week I'm back to my Top 10 Favorite Movies and I'm featuring Mr. Denzel Washington.
I learned some interesting things about Denzel while reading through his profile on The Internet Movie Database. He was named after his father who was a Pentecostal minister.  He was Dr. Chandler on the NBC series St. Elsewhere for 6 years!
Choosing FAVORITE this week was tough!  I have enjoyed so many of Denzel's … (32 comments)

Thankful Thursday: Fidelity Title Bus Tour
I've been with real estate offices that have had home tours and I've been to broker open houses.  This is the best of both worlds.  Our local title office coordinates the tour.  Each month the tour focuses on 2-3 neighborhoods in town.  The title folks contact local agents with listing in the "designated" neighborhood.  They choose 5-6 homes that are representative of what the neighborhood has to offer and put them on the tour.
We start at 9:00am at the title office and we enjoy a little bit of networking with other agents and a … (8 comments)
