For the first time in many years, I played hooky today from the office.
Last week I wrote a blog post about my Sunday plans. The once per year NHRA Toyo Nationals at Maple Grove are a fun day for my wife and I. Well, about 12:30 on Sunday it started to rain and race cars don't do well in the wet and everything was pushed back to Monday. Well, Monday the rain started about 1PM and never let up ( I didn't go, too much to do at the office) and Tuesday they never got started.

auto racing: How Are You Spending The Weekend? - 08/17/07 11:50 AM
I ask because Sunday my wife and I are attending a once a year event.
The NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals is happening this weekend at Maple Grove Raceway south of Reading.
Qualifying for the Sportsman classes started yesterday with additional qualifying for all categories today and tomorrow. Sunday is for final eliminations starting at 11AM with coverage on ESPN2 at 10 PM.
One of the interesting parts of the NHRA website is the "Driver Blogs" section and one of the best is wrtiien by team manager Bob Wilburof the Del Worsham team. Bob not only chronicles race weekends, but blogs about airline travel, … (1 comments)

There are well over 1000 oval track speedways of all shapes  and sizes in the United States. There are more in Pennsylvania than any other state.
The South Central Pennsylvania area has several well run, weekly operations that provide a great deal of  contribution to the local economy. Within an hour or so of Harrisburg we have all of these dirt tracks:
