Can I Claim Credit for Selling a House that Wasn't My Listing? YES! If I Participated in the Transaction! I work for both buyers and sellers. When I am working with a client, regardless, if I am his listing agent or his buyer's agent, I work tirelessly to get him to his goal of buying or selling a home. At the end of the transaction, I will get paid for my work--no matter which side of the transaction I performed. I use a variety of ways to attract buyers to my listings. Some of those methods include open houses, internet marketing, direct mail and signs. Yes, a sign in the yard can produce a sale. But what is the purpose of a sign? To sell the house or attract business to the agent? To be truthful, the answer is both. Agents hope the sign will bring in a potential buyer to the seller's home.
