&lt;p&gt;Just returned late last evening to Destrehan, LA. WOW! what a mess. It appears that most homes have just a mess to clean up. My damage is a little more extensive. I have roof damage.&amp;nbsp;Lucky, I have my crew in route to at least place some tarps to prevent further damage to my home. Local utilities are stressed. We&amp;nbsp;can&amp;nbsp;not wash anything due to our&amp;nbsp;sewerage system failure. Bread and milk are in short supply as of now. Things&amp;nbsp;will only get better. &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Eric, John, Lisa and all Louisiana member let us know how your doing.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I would have came back this weekend but the Best Western in Chicago KICK&amp;nbsp;out my family and I so here we are. That will be my battle cry for future post.&amp;nbsp; Avoid Best Western chain.&lt;/p&gt;    </content>

&lt;p&gt;Chicago Day 6 &amp;nbsp; Just received word that the New Orleans Airport has reopened. It appears we may being going home tomorrow. As of this writing my home appears to have been spared any major damage. It is still without electricity. I would like to see and check on things myself. It will rough for the next couple of weeks but we do have a home to go back to.Chicago has been nice but it is time to go home. We will stay with my In Laws until we have power.&lt;/p&gt;    </content>

&lt;p&gt;When in Chicago there are many things to do. Of coarse the Chicago Cubs, the shopper dream of the Magnificent Mile and The Field Museum of Natural History.&amp;nbsp;We spent today viewing and learning the Field Museum's&amp;nbsp;exhibits. The Field Museum's website: &lt;a href="http://www.fieldmuseum.org/" id="xmu1"&gt;www.fieldmuseum.org&lt;/a&gt;. There are so many exhibits to view, for example there is a&amp;nbsp; T Rex and ancient Indians exhibits. The cost is very affordable, for an adult $14 and children $7.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="text-align: center;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Chicago's Vacation turned into Evacuation &amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;Day 3 &amp;nbsp; &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: center;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;We attended the&amp;nbsp;Philadelphia Phillies vs. Chicago Cubs&amp;nbsp;today. Our seat were great, along the third base line. Getting to Wrigley Field after all these years was a dream come true. My first trip was schedule for August 2005. Hurricane Katrina cause that trip to be cancelled. &amp;nbsp; As soon as you see Wrigley Field you feel like your stepping back in time. The stadium reminds me of the old Tulane Stadium in New Orleans. They tore Tulane Stadium down when the Louisiana Superdome was completed. You can see the players and&amp;nbsp;you can almost hear what they are talking out. The crowd was very nice and friendly. I have never been to a professional sports type stadium where just about everyone was wearing team colors. I enjoy my self so much I allowed myself to have an Old Style Beer and a hot dog.&lt;br id="x2_k2" /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This trip was needed and the timing was God sent with Hurricane Gustav hitting our home state of Louisiana.&lt;/p&gt;

This video was produce by our local parish government. My home is in this video. 
 
Here a great example of a community blog. 
 
The St. Charles Parish Government, in my opinion is the most progressive government in the Greater New Orleans. Before Hurricane Gustav the parish would post local information and events using www.youtube.com. Just today the video posted help calm my wife nerves on the condition of our home. I have just started to post using video and can see the advantage.

&lt;p&gt;Well it sounds like the Greater New Orleans area will suffer only wind damage. The levees appear to have held. I am so happy, and hope all my friends, family and neighbors property have only minor damage. For those who have major losses and some have lose family members you are in my thoughts and prayers.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Keep a watchful eye out because of the rest of the unwanted family members of the Gustav may want to visit in the very near future.&lt;/p&gt;    </content>

This is day two of our four day vacation or so we thought. Hurricane Gustav had other ideas. Today Saturday is the official evacuation of St. Charles Parish. This video was shot with my HP R967. I was considering purchasing a flip video. While sitting in my hotel, I started playing or learning my current equipment. Let me know what you think about the quality etc&#8230;

Unfortunately, most of my friends and family are on the road fleeing this Hurricane during the time of this game. Most of them spending 12 hours or more what is a short 3 hour trip. I am very grateful to my god that he has allowed my family a safe and uneventful trip. I am very grateful. 

Just so you know the Cubs lost to the Phillies. We will never forget our first game at Wrigley Field.

&lt;p&gt;Our first day in Chicago.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;We arrived in Chicago about 1120 AM. The flight was only about 2 hours from New Orleans. We arrived at&amp;nbsp;Wrigley Field today at 3 PM. This is my first visit to the Cubs homes. I am in a daze. This is so cool. To top the day off the Cubs won again and we will make tomorrow's game and Sunday as well. With a hurricane facing my home state of Louisiana and the weather here is so great&amp;nbsp;it is hard to imagine what could happen back home. &amp;nbsp;If I am not able to return home on Monday I have decide to stay here in Chicago a few more days and then we will decide what course of action to take.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We have all heard of agents not returning calls, numbers on sign not working, Realtors without Fax machines all which I have blog about. Now, how about agents who do not show up for listing interviews.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Well yesterday we pick up another listing, &lt;a href="http://activerain.com/blogsview/656185/8-4-Huntwyck-Dr"&gt;804 Huntwyck&lt;/a&gt;in Slidell LA. All we had to do is show up. The seller was so happy that we showed up that she was ready for us to do the paper work. We cover all the routine things pricing, broker tours, open house. My three points I always cover: Price, Accessibility to the property and real estate commission. The seller was in full agreement on all points. The question has been asked how we got the listing. Well all we did is show up. We were the third Realtors who the seller called. The first two were no show no call. The seller is a friendly person and cannot figure out why anyone would do this. This was one of the fastest listing appoints I have ever done. I guess we were there maybe an hour total. The best part is they are moving and need to purchase a new home in Chalmette LA. These sellers purchase these homes after Hurricane Katrina. There is more to the story, the sister who lives next store wants to sell her house and move to a larger home. So just by showing up to a listing we may end up with FOUR sales when it is all said and done.&lt;/p&gt;

    <title>Active Rain is like Pre Game</title>

&lt;p&gt;Each and every morning the first things I do are fire up the computer and start a pot of coffee. I open my emails and &lt;a href="http://activerain.com/" target="_blank"&gt;Active Rain&lt;/a&gt; on my dual monitor computer system. Each and every day I start with Active Rain. I check on previous post and their comments. Then I comment on my subscription poster that I follow. How is this like pre game? Whether you played Football, Baseball or Golf you have a warm up routine that you follow. Well my Pre Game is Active Rain. I have state how I spend about 30 - 45 minutes a day. That is close but sometimes I can easily over the time of a day put in 1 to 2 hours.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Getting back to Pre Game and Active Rain, I prepare myself for a day of Real Estate fun by using the thoughts I fine here on Active Rain. My thought for&amp;nbsp;today is the tax credit and first time home buyer money that is being offer here in LA. &lt;strong&gt;Active Rain = preparation&lt;/strong&gt;.&amp;nbsp; Many of us have the same views but sometimes we just need to hear the points in a different manner.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p align="center"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;One Down One to Go ~ The Most Wonderful Day of The Year&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;No, not a closings, but back to school. Today my oldest headed off to his first day of Seventh grade at &lt;a href="http://www.stphilipneri.org/teacher/spn/"&gt;St. Philip Neri&lt;/a&gt; in &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metairie,_Louisiana"&gt;Metairie&lt;/a&gt;, LA. He has been attending his mother's grammer school since 2&lt;sup&gt;nd&lt;/sup&gt; grade. This is a little Catholic elementary and middle school. The total population, at least last year, under 700 students. The principle, teachers and staff are top notch. One down and one to go, well Jacob is on his way and his sister is still awaiting her first day on Tuesday. My hope is for &lt;strong&gt;ALL&lt;/strong&gt; our kids to go to school and reach what ever goal they may have in life.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p align="center"&gt;In the very near future I plan on purchasing the &lt;a href="http://www.theflip.com/products.shtml" target="_blank"&gt;Flip Video Camera&lt;/a&gt;. I am wondering if anyone else has had experience with this supposedly easy to use video camera. I am looking at the 2gb which allows to record up to 60 minutes. The battery life is a major concern.&amp;nbsp;Also include if you have the &lt;a href="http://www.theflip.com/products_flip_ultra_specs.II.shtml" target="_blank"&gt;Flip Mino or the&amp;nbsp;Flip Ultra.&lt;/a&gt; &amp;nbsp;Any thoughts will be appreciated.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I spent last Saturday with my son. He competed in the Second Annual Drive Putt Chip &amp;amp; Junior Tournament Event. This golfing event was held at the &lt;a href="http://www.tpc.com/louisiana/"&gt;TPC of Louisiana&lt;/a&gt;. This is the home of the &lt;a href="http://www.tpc.com/louisiana/zurich/index.html"&gt;Zurich Classic.&lt;/a&gt; I am proud that my son participates in &lt;a href="http://www.thefirstteenola.org/Club/Scripts/Home/home.asp"&gt;The New Orleans chapter of The First Tee&lt;/a&gt;. This is a fine organization which promotes more than just golf. Visit your local chapter. The local chapter board members and volunteers really believe in their commitment to help kids.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;My son placed second in the putting contest. He was really excited with his placement. The driving portion he did well but the chipping well let's just say he has a lot of work in front of him on the up and down.&lt;/p&gt;

Joining this association not only will help beautify the area but keep a quality of life we all want to enjoy. &lt;p&gt;&lt;p&gt;After viewing this photo posted by John Walters it got me thinking. My thoughts were how to improve this kitchen to help the seller and the agent.&amp;nbsp;Basically, the purple is not that bad I guess if you like it. The kitchen does show well and is very clean. The floor appears to be a stain floor which is modern especially for South East Louisiana. What do you think can be done to soften this color scheme. OK, change the color would be a quick fix but what if the seller could not see that. Resident of St. Charles Parish are now able to pay their waterbill online. I have been waiting and certainly glad the Water Department is final current when it come to customers having the ability of paying their bill on line. All you have to do is go to the site and enter your account number and submit. This is great news to me. No more need to worry about stamps and snail mail.
