Have you ever felt like you needed to climb out on a limb?

You know, take advantage of an opportunity, while wondering if the risk is worth the chance you'll need to take.

Tree Climber in Woodinville WA

The guys in these two pictures are engaged in one of the most dangerous occupations in this country. At the same time they maintain a great spirit that exemplifies an incredible strength and determination. Courage is a given.

These pictures, shot a few days ago, are of high climbers working on taking down a couple of trees in our backyard that were compromised and in danger of falling on our home during a future windstorm. Now, you wouldn't catch me up there these days where this guy is, even though I've done a little bit of this type of work many years ago. Those were the days of my reckless youth.

I was in awe as this climber showed great abandon and courage taking off the limbs while working his way quickly up the tree. At this point the climber on top of the hemlock was already beginning the process of cutting and dropping the tree trunk above him down to the crew below.

It seems clear he is capable of extreme focus to get up, get down, and get the job done, without injury to himself or the crew on the ground. One of the guys confided in me that he was a laid off bricklayer and hadn't worked in a year at his union job, but needed to pay his bills and this work was a blessing, even at a reduced income level.

In our real estate work these days, we are faced with very difficult challenges day after day. In some respects, the mental courage and determination seems equivalent to what this young man up the tree faces all day long, every day.

We all need focused courage and determination to get the job done and move on to the next challenge without stopping to think about not being up to the work.

Be careful out there, but keep moving forward. Blessings to all of you as you face many challenges in the days ahead.
