O' FOR THE INOCENCE OF MY YOUTH... - 08/26/10 10:41 PM
O' FOR THE INOCENCE OF MY YOUTH...  I went to watch my six year old grandson play baseball tonight, and found myself reflecting on "days gone by."
My grandson has proven to be a very good ball player, and several of his team-mates have as well.  Tonight, they couldn't buy a hit at a moldy-oldies yard sale.  I watched the frustration in the parents' faces, and the anxt in the coaches' eyes.  The boys: they just went about being six year olds...  I thought about times when "we" would fall down over and over, but always get up one more time … (3 comments)

INFANT CAR SEAT ON THE SIDE OF ROAD...STOP!!! - 08/06/10 11:43 PM
INFANT CAR SEAT ON THE SIDE OF ROAD...STOP!!!  But, BEFORE YOU DO, READ THIS:
I received the following warning through the EMTAR (Easter Middle Tennessee Association of REALTORS®) and had heard an independent account of a similar act.  I know too many women that would have to stop and check on any baby perceived to be in danger.  PLEASE DON'T STOP!!!  DIAL 9-1-1 and (if you must) stay inside your locked car--engine running, and WAIT ON THE POLICE.
Remember YOUR BABIES WANT MAMA TO COME HOME TOO!!!

WHY I VALUE THE REALTOR® BRAND - 08/06/10 09:31 PM
WHY I VALUE THE REALTOR® BRAND
Earlier this evening I was reading a post by Jim Lee, REALTOR®, Knoxville, Tennessee.  Check out his post:
http://activerain.com/blogsview/1783053/using-the-realtor-word-correctly   I will not go back over his points--you can do that.
What struck me and drove me to this post was a remark made by a contributor:
Given that the public's perception of "Realtors" consistently year after year rates as on of the least respected professions. Why would you even want to use the word Realtor in your marketing?? Of course the general public as a rule doesn't know the difference between a licensee and a … (0 comments)

LITTLE GIRL IN PIG TAILS: WHO WOULD HAVE EVER THOUGHT - 08/05/10 01:59 AM
LITTLE GIRL IN PIG TAILS: WHO WOULD HAVE EVER THOUGHT.  That was my first assessment when I met her.
It was 1983, and I was relatively new mortgage loan officer taking calls in the office.  This business man is inquiring about financing on a condo development I was working with.  After answering more than a dozen questions, he invited me to Music Row to take an application on a young lady named Cheryl Pruitt Blackwood.  I knew that name, but from where?
I arrived for the appointment, and he provided me with all the preliminaries, and said he would have tax returns and … (1 comments)

"Y'ALL COME!" - 08/05/10 12:56 AM
"Y'ALL COME!" is a down-home expression equated with those of us fortunate to have been born and reared in the Southeastern region of the United States; but no where more so than in NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE.  Home of the Grand Ole Opry and probably the "Guitar Capital of the World", Music City, USA is not only a place to visit--it is a Great Place to Live.
Strangers are welcomed, visitor are made to feel at home, and everyone is greeted with a smile--like the upbeat words to the Gospel classic, "Give the world a smile each day, helping someone on life's way..."  … (3 comments)

I Am A Local Real Estate Expert - Zillow Is Not - 08/01/10 01:26 AM
A Local Real Estate Expert--Not Zillow
Ever so often I read something that I know others need to read as well.  The following post by Leesa Finley, Circa Properties, in Wake Forest, NC is such a post.  People need to know and understand that Zillow is part of our landscape today, but it is NOT LANDMARK by which we find our way.  Experienced REALTORS® and Real Estate Appraisers are far better points of reference for determining the true market value of property in your neighborhood.  You might compare Zillow to a passer-by speading 2nd hand gossip.  No Facts Requires--just a willing … (0 comments)
