real estate slideshows: Videos now can be uploaded directly to Realtor.com - 08/03/07 07:12 PM
If you have enhanced listings on Realtor.com, you can now upload Video Tours directly to that site through your control panel. Just more proof that video is the up and coming way to market real estate. Oddly enough however, they only allow UNBRANDED tours on the video option, however if you upload your video to the "featured tour" area, they allow 'branded videos'. Huh? It makes no sense to me.

real estate slideshows: Video is exploding on the web... especially for real estate - 07/06/07 08:22 AM
[Updated July 2008] It's safe to say that two years ago, video on the web was only a dream and only accessible by a very few, patient people. However, to illustrate that video is EXPLODING online (literally), below is a short list (and I'm sure missing many sites) of all online video websites as of this second - they do seem to crop up almost daily. So, for all those naysayers out there who don't believe the web is going video.... here's proof! Please not that many of these sites are now banning commercial and real estate videos, such as SpikeTV

real estate slideshows: The understanding of online real estate video tours similar to that of websites 5 years ago... - 06/16/07 06:44 AM
As I speak to agents and customers regularly regarding online real estate video tours, I'm finding a very interesting similarity. Back in 1999, 2000, as a web designer, I was preaching to agents that the internet was the way to go in real estate marketing. Customers were searching online and your competition was NOT there to meet them. A small group of realtors 'got it' and got onboard with a website. Of course, at that time it was a very simple site - the MLS was not even available to be part of your website, so it was strictly informational. However,

real estate slideshows: Choose your real estate video music wisely - keep the lawyers away! - 06/05/07 11:13 PM
I've noticed in a number of real estate video tours, that popular music is being used quite often as background music. It's really NOT a good idea to use copyrighted music on your videos, unless you potentially want to invite trouble! The web is a great place to start to find royalty free music, but some of it is low quality or it just doesn’t match your production style. There are a few sites I recommend that have some great, royalty free music which is either free or reasonably priced. More importantly, it keeps lawyers away! For sound effects use

real estate slideshows: Real estate video tours and search engine placement ..... Sweet! - 06/05/07 12:43 PM
There has been some debate on how valid real estate videos are on sites such as YouTube, Google Video, etc. I've always uploaded them to about 8 sites because they always come up (within a couple of days) on regular Google searches for top keywords - they also rank usually on page 1 or 2. Sometimes they appear several times. Google algorythms have changed. Video is now fully integrated into their standard, basic search, where buyers ARE searching. I have seen very recently where on page two of the #1 search term for a particular area, 7 out of 10 (yes,

real estate slideshows: Google Search Results Will Now Include Video - 05/19/07 11:57 PM
Google just announced that it's new Universal Search will include video results along with text, image and book excerpt results when users do a search on the popular search engine. What does that mean? That means the video tours WILL be found along with the regular search results even more than they currently are! Video results are currently ranking very high in Google searches - I find usually within 1-2 days after filming - which is pretty amazing. And they appear on PAGE 1 - even more amazing. This announcement means that video will become even a bigger player in days to come. As you

real estate slideshows: How to produce and upload a video to the web - 05/07/07 07:57 AM
For those who are thinking about getting into online video (marketing and home tours), but don't know where to start, I found this very helpful, easily laid out, step by step instructional site on how to film, edit and upload a video to the web. It covers everything from A-Z in a very clean, logical, graphic oriented sequence. Of course, if it still boggles your mind, you can call companies that do this every day, such as NashuaVideoTours.. :)

real estate slideshows: Real estate video tours - do they really work? - 02/28/07 07:14 AM
At 11:30pm eastern time recently, I received a call from the west coast. As I was just about to go to bed, I let it go to voice mail. The next day, I listened to the message, which was from someone in California. He was a bit confused as to who he was calling, and asked if I did Video Tours for real estate, etc. Since I am in the Boston area, California is a bit out of my range, so I was just going to ignore the call. But, I did decide to call him back and see what he wanted.

real estate slideshows: Real estate videos - the next big thing? Absolutely! - 01/23/07 04:31 PM
I've been doing real estate videos for a little over a year - longer than pretty much everyone else. I've always had a feeling that video is not only the next big thing for real estate, but the next big thing for the web in general. I really believe if video was doable 10 years ago, the web would have always been very video oriented. Lots of people read novels, but more people watch the movie. That's just the way it is! Plus, most people do not like to read endlessly on a computer monitor. It's hard to read and hard

real estate slideshows: Home Staging and Virtual Tour Providers - How about this business idea?? - 01/20/07 08:50 PM
As I was out shooting a Video Tour of a home today, I had [what I think] is brilliant business idea/ collaboration. This place looked horrible. It was EMPTY. A video tour, or virtual tour - or even still photos of a house (and especially a condo) is nearly worthless when it's EMPTY. "Wow.. this room has four walls and a window... and THIS room also has four walls and TWO windows...!" Just doesn't quite do the sales job online! It looks horrible and really makes it difficult to sell, especially through photos or videos. What would be the feasability of a home

real estate slideshows: "Featured Tours" on Realtor.com - bad marketing idea? - 12/23/06 04:12 PM
Considering: 1) The market is slow - properties are sitting on the market for months 2) Choices for buyers are abundant - almost exhausting 3) Gas prices are at an all time high 4) Open houses are generally a waste of time I am amazed at how few people choose to offer 'featured tours' for their listing on Realtor.com, arguably the most visible real estate website in the country. In my area: Nashua, NH has 638 listings, but only 8% have featured tours Hollis, NH has 72 listings, but only 20% have featured tours Amherst, NH has 180 listings, with 15% offering featured tours Manchester, NH has 1,045 listings, with only

real estate slideshows: Real estate videos - the 'do it yourself' version - 12/09/06 11:25 PM
For those who have some time on their hands and want to delve into the real estate video world, there's an interesting new site that allows you to upload your footage and then edit it online, add music, transitions, etc., then post it to a blog or to other real estate sites such as YouTube. You can also upload still photos and 'create' a movie out of that, which can be uploaded to these sites as well. It's kind of slick, although I'm not sure if offers much more than some free software that comes bundled on most new computers these days. I

real estate slideshows: 5 million visitors to your open house every day? - 11/30/06 07:53 AM
Pew Internet & American Life Project, a research project dedicated to tracking the impact of the internet on society, has released an update to their 2004 research on virtual tours.Essentially, over half of adult internet users have taken virtual tours. They have increased considerably in popularity over the past two years, most likely due to the wider acceptance and useage of broadband. 51% of adults have taken a virtual tour, up from 45% in 2004. 72 million people compared to 54 million two years ago. More people in the home buying age of 30-49 take virtual tours (57%) than other demographics. College graduates take

real estate slideshows: Video tours - the next wave on the web... - 11/28/06 07:38 PM
This year, video online has come of age. Witness the outrageous proliferation of video sites that were not even around one year ago.... YouTube, Google Video, Yahoo Video, Grouper, Blip, VideoHomez and there are many, many more. YouTube was recently purchased by Google for 1.6 BILLION dollars - a site that was one year old and started in a garage! Often The Tonight Show and other TV shows feature videos from YouTube on television. A show on MTV or VH1 is devoted exclusively to showcasing internet videos. If you don't think this is big, think again. it's huge. In fact it also recently
