real estate videos: Video + Google = Eyeballs - 12/30/08 01:55 PM
I've posted several times in the past about Google’s universal search initiative and the promise that it has for website video SEO. In addition to YouTube videos being shown in Google search with thumbnail, other video sites are successfully showing thumbnails in the SERPs as well including Metacafe,Videojug and others. Often times, our videos appear on page one WITH thumbnails - and in some cases, more than once!
It's a fact that on a page with all text, the eye gravitates towards images, and right now, the ONLY images on the entire page are generally thumbnails for videos!
I am pleased to tell … (12 comments)

real estate videos: Tube Mogul now tracking video viewer engagement - 10/29/08 11:53 AM
TubeMogul, a great service I have used since it's inception, has acquired Illumenix, a video metrix firm. TubeMogul allows you to syndicate your videos to over 20 video sharing sites, such as YouTube, MetaCafe, etc.  It then track views, comments and ratings across those sites.
The acquisition of Illumenex will allow the tracking of even more data, such as viewer engagement including how much of a video is actually watched, what the most popular segments of the video are, when viewers click away and more.  For those of us who also host our own videos on our own servers, they will … (1 comments)

real estate videos: YouTube upgrades - a sign of the times! - 11/09/07 11:13 AM
Although I'm not a fan of YouTube, mostly due to the low quality, they did announce a change to its service today which I find very interesting.  They've upped the size limit to videos from 100MB max to 1GB!  They also released software that allows bulk uploading of videos.
Just another sign that video is here to stay - in a BIG way! Probably a smart move as its competition gets more sophisticated, and HD Internet video becomes more common, the low-quality of most YouTube videos is becoming a liability.
Here is the text of their announcement:

real estate videos: Videos now can be uploaded directly to Realtor.com - 08/03/07 07:12 PM
If you have enhanced listings on Realtor.com, you can now upload Video Tours directly to that site through your control panel.  Just more proof that video is the up and coming way to market real estate.
Oddly enough however, they only allow UNBRANDED tours on the video option, however if you upload your video to the "featured tour" area, they allow 'branded videos'.
Huh?  It makes no sense to me.

real estate videos: Spread those videos around.... effortlessly! - 07/23/07 07:12 AM

One of the things I do for my real estate video tour clients is to upload their videos to about ten  internet video sites.  Fortunately for me, I have a fiber optic connection, so uploading a 45MB file ten times is no big deal.  Typing the information ten times is far more annoying and time consuming, even though I'm a fast typer!
This new site, HeySpread, will allow you to enter your information ONCE, upload ONCE and they will 'spread it around'.... just like manure! It's still missing 3-4 sites that I regularly upload to, but this will still reduce my … (5 comments)

real estate videos: Video is exploding on the web... especially for real estate - 07/06/07 08:22 AM
[Updated July 2008] It's safe to say that two years ago, video on the web was only a dream and only accessible by a very few, patient people.
However, to illustrate that video is EXPLODING online (literally), below is a short list (and I'm sure missing many sites) of all online video websites as of this second - they do seem to crop up almost daily.
So, for all those naysayers out there who don't believe the web is going video.... here's proof!
Please not that many of these sites are now banning commercial and real estate videos, such as SpikeTV … (25 comments)

real estate videos: The understanding of online real estate video tours similar to that of websites 5 years ago... - 06/16/07 06:44 AM
As I speak to agents and customers regularly regarding online real estate video tours, I'm finding a very interesting similarity. Back in 1999, 2000, as a web designer, I was preaching to agents that the internet was the way to go in real estate marketing. Customers were searching online and your competition was NOT there to meet them. A small group of realtors 'got it' and got onboard with a website. Of course, at that time it was a very simple site - the MLS was not even available to be part of your website, so it was strictly informational.
However, … (8 comments)

real estate videos: Choose your real estate video music wisely - keep the lawyers away! - 06/05/07 11:13 PM
I've noticed in a number of real estate video tours, that popular music is being used quite often as background music. It's really NOT a good idea to use copyrighted music on your videos, unless you potentially want to invite trouble!
The web is a great place to start to find royalty free music, but some of it is low quality or it just doesn’t match your production style. There are a few sites I recommend that have some great, royalty free music which is either free or reasonably priced. More importantly, it keeps lawyers away!

real estate videos: Real estate video tours and search engine placement ..... Sweet! - 06/05/07 12:43 PM
There has been some debate on how valid real estate videos are on sites such as YouTube, Google Video, etc. I've always uploaded them to about 8 sites because they always come up (within a couple of days) on regular Google searches for top keywords - they also rank usually on page 1 or 2. Sometimes they appear several times. Google algorythms have changed. Video is now fully integrated into their standard, basic search, where buyers ARE searching. I have seen very recently where on page two of the #1 search term for a particular area, 7 out of 10 (yes, … (6 comments)

real estate videos: Google Search Results Will Now Include Video - 05/19/07 11:57 PM
Google just announced that it's new Universal Search will include video results along with text, image and book excerpt results when users do a search on the popular search engine.
What does that mean?  That means the video tours WILL be found along with the regular search results even more than they currently are!
Video results are currently ranking very high in Google searches - I find usually within 1-2 days after filming - which is pretty amazing. And they appear on PAGE 1 - even more amazing.
This announcement means that video will become even a bigger player in days to come.
As you … (4 comments)

real estate videos: How to produce and upload a video to the web - 05/07/07 07:57 AM
For those who are thinking about getting into online video (marketing and home tours), but don't know where to start, I found this very helpful, easily laid out, step by step instructional site on how to film, edit and upload a video to the web.  It covers everything from A-Z in a very clean, logical, graphic oriented sequence.
Of course, if it still boggles your mind, you can call companies that do this every day, such as NashuaVideoTours..   :)

real estate videos: Real estate video tours - do they really work? - 02/28/07 07:14 AM
At 11:30pm eastern time recently, I received a call from the west coast. As I was just about to go to bed, I let it go to voice mail.
The next day, I listened to the message, which was from someone in California. He was a bit confused as to who he was calling, and asked if I did Video Tours for real estate, etc. Since I am in the Boston area, California is a bit out of my range, so I was just going to ignore the call. But, I did decide to call him back and see what he wanted.

real estate videos: Web Video Reaches Tipping Point - Two thirds view streaming video at least once a week. - 02/06/07 05:18 PM
It looks like Internet video has reached a tipping point: two-thirds of the people surveyed in a recent study view streaming video content at least once a week. More importantly, the vast majority are those of home buying demographic.
More and more, viewers are watching on-demand video, and watching less TV. While television content is popular, some of the most popular Internet videos are turning out to be things you don’t typically find on television, like AJ dunking a basketball or real estate video tours.
According to an Advertising.com report, 66% view streaming video at least once a week. 44 percent of … (9 comments)
