Hi All,
I was reading another post this morning about finding yourself with house envy. I can totally relate to this, however, it's actually one of the things that drew me to becoming a real estate photographer.
I am envious when looking at some of the homes I do tours of, especially when they are what the owner calls a "summer" home. I have had the pleasure of getting into some VERY nice homes here in West Michigan.
I turn this envy into a research project. I make each and every home I shoot a dream building session. I have yet to build my own dream home and this is a way that I can get ideas of what I want. How else can the average person get into a fancy, million dollar home to drool over. I also find that because I look for features in the home that I think are way cool, it helps me in getting shots to promote special features that other home buyers might be looking for as well.
I have one realtor that even hangs out with me sometimes on the fancier homes and we drool dreambuild together. I love getting calls from him because I know when he says, "You're Gonna Love This One!", that I'm in for a major dream building adventure.
Having a goal or a dream is what motivates a person to get up each day with enthuiasm. My clients know that I use this job as a means of creating my own dream, so they know that I will be passionate about getting the best shots of each and every property. Frees Frame Photography has been doing real estate photography for a year now and I never imagined I could enjoy a "job" so much. Thanks to RTV and their virtual tour technology this is possible for me. Of course the problem will arise when I do begin to build my dream home and I can't decide which of the features I have seen that I want to implement. Ahh... but until then... I'll keep on doing my research of building my dream home.
