Why did Mortgage rates change so significantly so quickly? - 06/23/09 02:03 PM
Usually mortgage interest rates move in direct correlation with how the bonds are doing and whether bonds are trading in the positive or the negative. In the old days we could just note when stocks were not doing well which meant that interest rates would go down. If stocks were doing well and everyone was putting their money in the stock market that meant bond prices were changing and our interest rates would go up. But that hasn't been the case in the last few years; it has been harder to predict due to the change in how the bonds are (2 comments)
Did you find a safe place to be during the recent storm? - 06/17/09 10:47 AM
The boys and I had our first experience of going to the safest place in our home - an inside closet - when the sirens sounded. I hope you remembered to take your cell phones, billfolds and/or purses with all your credit cards and ID, perhaps a bottle of water and a package of cookies! Oh, and shoes. Should the storm develop into a real problem for you, that would involve lots of broken glass. Since I was raised in Kansas, I have considerable knowledge of tornadoes and have spent lots of time in the basement! We were fortunate this time (3 comments)
SHHHHHHHHH.....Perhaps we should not mention this to Julie! - 06/17/09 10:45 AM
Many of you are probably familiar with the Leadership Frisco program which is sponsored by the Frisco Chamber of Commerce. I am a graduate of the 10th Leadership Frisco class and have just been asked to serve on the Leadership Frisco Advisory Council. Julie has extracted a promise from me that I will absolutely not become involved with anything else that takes me away from home in the evening......but the Advisory Council meets for lunch! The Council shapes the foundation of the Leadership class and is responsible for establishing the calendar and curriculum, working with feedback from previous years to revamp any areas (1 comments)
Two Homes Ready for You to Buy! - 06/17/09 10:44 AM
I recently learned that a good friend of mine and a Frisco staple is on the move. With that comes an unbelievable home for sale. A home that was completely restored years ago and is a landmark of Frisco's past. Just South of downtown Frisco, you can walk to Randy's Steakhouse. Hate to see folks move out of my little small town, but glad to have the positive impact they made in this community. The 2nd home might be a problem for many of you- it is across the street from me. This is the 2nd time that an investor bought (0 comments)

What is your "I Can't"? - 06/08/09 03:39 PM
Ever find yourself taking notes during the sermon at church? That was me last Sunday. Clay was talking about the 'I Can't' and, boy, did that hit home for me (listen to that sermon; click the 5/31/2009). The gist of the message was that none of us can do it alone but we can do anything with the big guy's help. On my list I started to write down the 'I Cant's' that I was facing; Can't take on this much; can't handle all I do and 4 kids; can't afford all I do and 4 kids; can't make the time; (4 comments)
iPhone: - 06/08/09 03:38 PM
The next 'can't live without' invention is my new iPhone. Julie watched me struggling with my old Treo and encouraged me to look into upgrades from AT&T. Others have encouraged me to get an iPhone but I always felt that my Treo was adequate. How wrong I was! The iPhone gives me the ability to do many things that I could never do with the Treo. For instance, I am able to enlarge anything on the screen to a readable level. This means I can work from anywhere I may be.....stuck in traffic, between meetings, etc. It is a huge timesaver (5 comments)
Trip to Houston - 06/08/09 03:36 PM
I traveled to Houston recently to interview new lenders. I find it is always good to meet new lenders face to face to evaluate their level of competence and ethics before I sign up with them. It was a successful trip and certainly worth my time. There are some great lenders out there. Driving in Houston is a challenging experience. Houstonians drive with the feeling that they will never see you again and they care not for you or your safety! They swerve in and out of lanes with abandon and it makes no difference to them where YOU might be! (2 comments)
Frisco Cycling - 06/08/09 03:12 PM
Hello Frisco Cycling, Way to go to RBM Frisco employee and FCC club member Tom Ernst for his promotion of a great track race last Friday night. Remember, track races are on Friday nights most of the summer, always free to be in the stands and support local racing at it's finest. Get your kids involved in the junior program run by Suzie Goodwin, details here. It is renewal time for many of us at the FCC. My fear is that the reminder e-mails to renew are not making it to you so please check your junk mail and see if you (0 comments)
Tankard Fellowship - 06/08/09 03:09 PM
Tankard Fellowship is tomorrow night! Since our last meeting much has changed in the City of Frisco. We at Tankard, by making our vote count- helped get one of our own, Patrick Fallon elected to the Frisco City Council. Looking forward to drinking with this new Councilman soon. Do you have many I Cant's in your life? A sermon the other day at St. Philip's from Tankard member Clay Lein spoke much about this and I would like that to be the theme of this Month's Tankard. What are your I Cant's? What if you had God's help with each of them- think (0 comments)
