TV shows we follow - 01/25/10 08:21 PM
I say follow as with kids- I never get a chance to actually see the show at its scheduled time any longer- thank you DVR! We are big CSI fans, the original- not the goofy Miami or NY edition. Love NCIS and Julie is starting to watch Criminal Minds at the suggestion of some friends. But my favorite is a newer show called the Shark Tank. 5 wealthy investors who get pitched company investment ideas and boy do they let some of these folks have it. The premise- you have a small company and want to take on a partner (2 comments)
What is all the fuss about the Bi-Weekly mortgage payment? - 01/25/10 08:16 PM
We have all heard of it and seen the mailer (from the bank who holds our loan): Pay a small set up fee + between .25 - $2.00 by weekly withdraw and they will cut the interest over the life of your loan. So, here is what I found while working up some numbers for a client. On a $114,400 loan amount paid on a 30 year schedule, the interest at the end of the loan would be $118,081.09. Set up a bi- weekly payment plan and that drops to $95,856.64. But have you heard the old saying "divide your mortgage (3 comments)
Quality Ride at an Affordable Price - 01/25/10 08:13 PM
Yesterday, my oldest son and I volunteered to help a new youth triathlon club, named FASTT Tri Club. They were having a skills day and asked if members of the Frisco Cycling Club (FCC) could volunteer to help. As we watched the riders go around and around the marked course it became clear what separated many of the riders was not just strength and ability, but the bike they were riding. Trust me, I know all about the cost of bicycles. I also know that many of us won't consider buying a bike from a bike store until we feel our (0 comments)
Focus on the Solution, Not on Blame - 01/20/10 08:55 AM
Focus on the Solution, Not on Blame Angry tirades often reduce your chance of getting assistance. Instead, keep your cool and try to calmly explain exactly what went wrong and how you propose that it be fixed. The adage "You'll get more bees with honey than with vinegar" should be your mantra. NEW GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE. CHANGE FOR THE BETTER? - 01/11/10 08:42 PM
The government decided that a one-page Good Faith Estimate (GFE) was not adequate for the home buyer. Consequently, they have done a Real Estate Settlement & Procedures Act (RESPA) reform changing the original act that became law in 1974. This reform was supposedly done to benefit consumers (for a longer explanation of RESPA click here :) The concern with the original GFE was that unethical loan officers and Mortgage Brokers were not completing the form properly. Leaving off known fees which the buyer in responsible for at closing. Anyone who has purchased a home knows that the GFE rarely matches the (4 comments)
