Red Sox, World Series Champions at Parade in Boston on Tuesday! - 10/31/07 07:34 PM
Weather was perfect!  My Clients went and were good enough to share their photos with me. They say the noise level was so high, you couldn't hear a thing. Everyone went to Fenway Park after the parade.  Not sure whether they went inside the park, but, they did say the park's stores were open for business.  Lots of people, lots of traffic coming home.  Police were very understanding of the fans and the excitement to see their team, in person, after the big win! … (9 comments)

Get Through Some Airports a Bit Faster! - 10/28/07 02:00 PM
Last September, when I attended the Buffini Training Camp Event in Orlando, I saw something that I think will make most travelers, thrilled!  I was standing in line for the security machines, about twenty minutes.  As we rounded a corner, there it was.  A new line where the number of people in the line, was three.  I watched and noted.  They went right through.  Then, they were ushered right to the security machine and given immediate access through, bumping all of us in line.  Wow!  As my line rounded the next corner, I saw the sign. Get a pen, this you … (14 comments)

Do you Travel Light? Prefer Flying or Driving? - 10/27/07 05:14 PM
As I love to travel and visit different states in our country, I am amazed at all of the people who do the same.  When we go on vacation, there is always a full plane.  The airport is buzzing with all of the traveling public.  I try to have a carry-on and one small suitcase. So many times, I have had to purchase a suitcase to come home! Now that they weigh your suitcase, and charge you if its over 50 lbs, you need to be packing light. When my youngest Daughter was in college, Lynchburg, VA, we would drive down … (2 comments)

Ellington, Connecticut ~ Lovely Country Community - 10/23/07 07:17 PM
I have a couple of listings in this lovely, country community.  It is mostly farmland. My niece lives in this town. My husband and I, thirty years ago, tried to build a home here.  Things didn't work out because of the planning of the home and where on the lot to place it, so, we ended up moving to another nearby town. I have sold several homes here as well.  It is off the beaten path, no highways going through, you must go to another town for highway access.  The hills are rolling, green with rich soil, covered with mostly cows and horses.  Here and … (0 comments)

C/A, Yes, In New England, Useful in FALL! - 10/20/07 01:41 PM
Honestly, we are having a warmer, than usual fall!  Today, there is a bit of a breeze, so, all the windows in my home are open today!  Sunny, breezy, perfect fall day?  It did rain yesterday, so, many of the leaves have fallen. Yet, this warmer weather really throws you off.  We are out covering our flower beds with leaves to protect them from the fall/winter cold.  If the flowers could talk, they would be saying, What are you thinking, we are still in bloom?  It is a nice plus, to see the flowers still in bloom.  Just very strange.  C/A is … (1 comments)

Any Time Share Brokers in Massachusetts? - 10/20/07 08:58 AM
I have an acquaintence who bought into a timeshare in Massachusetts, and now they would like to sell it.  Not sure of its value or information, but, if you know of someone who would be interested in purchasing or selling  this timeshare, I will be happy to pass on the information that I have to that broker. I think that the folks who own it, are realizing that it isn't for them. Thanks for any help that you may be able to provide!

Raining & Warm Weather! - 10/19/07 03:40 PM
Yes, it is fall, but 70 today, in Connecticut! Very unusual! I have had agents calling all day to set up showings!  The warm weather is certainly a positive influence on the showing public. Our flowers are still blooming, which is nice, but, just strange.  I looked at pumpkins today, and just couldn't bring myself to purchase them yet.  I did pick up Halloween candy for the kiddies.  Hard to believe that the big trick or treat event is only two weeks away. Hoping to sell some of my listings this weekend, two of the showings are second time! What an … (4 comments)

Buffini Clubnetters! Any Fall/Holiday Popby Ideas? - 10/15/07 11:30 AM
Looking for more ideas to share with folks. Help to get them face to face with their database, friends and family! I have learned a few good techy tips for my popbys, so, I am feeling a bit more confident.  With all of the good systems that we have at Buffini, this has been my challenge for accomplishment.  I use the techy tips for the tags that are attached to the popby item. My client's have even noticed my upgraded tags;)  I think they are surprised that I learned to make them!  Yes, one of the benefits of these systems is, … (16 comments)

Manchester, Ct ~ March of Dimes Walk~Saving Babies! - 10/14/07 05:58 PM
What a beautiful day we had today! Crisp and cool, yet, if you were in the sun, it was a perfect day. My Daugher and Daughter-in-Law joined me on our walk. It started a bit after ten this morning.  It was held at Northwest Park in Manchester. The route was marked with small signs that had information about saving babies and all the fine things that the March of Dimes does for children and their families.  We were given shirts, water, bread, candy, coffee, and donut holes (from Dunkin Donuts, yummy!).  There was a DJ from the River radio station, too. … (0 comments)

Is the Home Vacant? Is it Harder to Sell? You Bet! - 10/10/07 11:31 AM
I have had several clients put there home on the market, then move out.  They take everything with them. Some have moved to a retirement community, some to another town or location.  I know that in their mind, they have made my job easier.  No calling for appointments, just go ahead and show the home.  However, the Buyers have a difficult time with imagining how furniture will look in the rooms.  Sometimes, it makes the rooms appear smaller. Every little defect, cosmetic, will show up.  So, if you are moving out, please repaint, clean, wash your windows, clean the gutters, make … (11 comments)

Do You Have Health Insurance? - 10/08/07 07:05 PM
Being self-employed, do you have health insurance?  I am lucky enough to be covered under my husband's insurance from UTC.  We pay a premium, but, it is a group plan, so the premium is affordable.  I would like to hear what other folks are doing for their health coverage.  Online now, there are so many offers.  AAA, AARP (yes, over 55), NAR offers plans, so do your local associations. If you are the full time employed half of your home, what do you have in place for your family?  Do you have disability in place?

TURKEY DAY RACE, FOLKS ARE WARMING UP ALREADY! - 10/06/07 04:26 PM
IN MANCHESTER, CONNECTICUT, on Thanksgiving Day, a route is marked through town, starting on Main Street. Over 60,000 people participate.  This number grows every year.  Runners, walkers, wheelchairs, you name it, everyone loves this road race.  We fondly call it the Turkey Race, since it is held on Thanksgiving Morning. Officially, it is the Manchester Road Race.  There are some teams, mostly locals, but, runners come from throughout the world.  I remember runners from Ireland, Africa and Indonesia. I have participated, but, as a walker.  It takes a little over an hour.   My children have participated many times as runners.  All along the route there … (0 comments)

Networking Fun! - 10/06/07 10:33 AM
Just like you are happy to meet your clients, you should be happy to meet with your vendors or business professionals that are part of your chain during a transaction.  Call them, send them a handwritten personal note, invite them to meet you for a coffee or, maybe, lunch.  They get some of their business from you, and you should let them know, that you would like to have some business from them.  It is a good revolving door.  They will get to know you, respect your value and talent for the business of real estate. Keep in contact with them … (8 comments)

HONESTY IS STILL, THE BEST POLICY! - 10/06/07 10:04 AM
Agents with unrealistic clients, need to help them to understand the market as it is today.  Not to look back and  see what could have been, not to hope for it to rise up in the future (whether it is next spring or next year).  They need to deal with today.  It is you, the agent, who is the professional to guide them along their course of buying or sellling. If you do not, you and your clients will feel so frustrated, that you won't know what to do.  Then, like magic, they will hire another agent, who will be upfront … (7 comments)

REDSOX ARE THE WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS, 2007 ~ YOU'RE AWESOME! - 10/06/07 09:50 AM
Hoping for the win tomorrow!  My Daughter had planned her vacation in California this coming week.  I brought her and Josh to the airport this morning, bright and early!  They are so excited!  Not only are the going to the beautiful state of California, but, they may just see the win tomorrow afternoon in Anaheim!  As much as we are Disney fans, we are Sox Fans!  She was able to purchase tickets for Sunday's game in California, so, they packed their Red Sox fan gear, too! The game starts at 3pm, Eastern Time.  Whoo hoo!
Yes, we won!  Score was 9 to … (19 comments)

Finally, a Pet Toy Made in the USA! - 10/02/07 05:36 PM
Jeepers, I have had a difficult time trying to find my lab, Jack, a safe toy which is made in the USA.  He is such a chewer!  Today, while we were out and about running errands and attending a Broker Open, we stopped at our pet store.  A young man helped me, because I was holding on to my 85.4 lb lab.  We followed him to the pet food of our choice, Wellness for puppies, and cookies, too.  As we were going to the register, Jack was sniffing all the various pet toys.  I picked up a few and read the … (5 comments)

Prices Down, Wants Up - 10/01/07 01:36 PM
Most Sellers are motivated to lower their price, finally.  However, now the Buyers seem to want most of the bells and whistles.  Some of these properties are small, first time homes.  They offer many good improvements, yet, feedback seems to be, well they really wanted more.  I hate to tell them, but, the Sellers can't do more. Watching the house flip programs, I notice how the new investors seem to overspend on improving and then, the Buyers still don't buy the home. Too small, or busy street.  Same feedback that was on that property, prior to the flip. So, we again, … (3 comments)
