glastonbury ct: Christmas Popbys! - 12/12/12 12:44 AM
Every year, since I have been in the real estate business, I have provided my clients with poinsettia plants, during the month of December, for Christmas.  When I joined Buffini and Company, twelve years ago, Brian Buffini taught me how to enhance my deliveries.
Luckily, this year has been a warmer winter, than usual.  Leaving live plants on a porch for a short amount of time is okay, but, they do need to be indoors.  With the Buffini enhancement, I don't just leave the plants.  I try to arrive at each client's home and talk with them.  If they are not home, … (9 comments)

glastonbury ct: The Autumn Nor'Easter Snowstorm in Connecticut! - 11/04/11 01:07 PM
You can't even imagine the chaos that is going on in our state.  Most of the traffic lights are out.  Trees are still on the wires and crossing over the streets.  Yes, sometimes, you drive under it and pray, because you have no choice.  The snow has, mostly, melted away. Our Governor, the Honorable Dannel Malloy, has been offering updates daily on the progress of the cleanup/cleanout.  We have ninety-one shelters set up, so far.  He, also, has the man from Connecticut Light and Power updating us.  They have brought in out of state/country, linemen and now, the Connecticut National Guard to work … (7 comments)

glastonbury ct: The Leaves are Changing in Connecticut! - 09/26/11 12:28 PM
We have been experiencing warmer than usual, weather for this time of year.  The weatherman tonight, reported that a cold front is coming on Thursday.  When we have those cold nights, the leaves will begin to turn more quickly.  Today, I noticed that it is just beginning.  Just a start to the beauty of the changing colors of our leaves. Notice the slight gold color starting on the middle tree.  Some areas have more color than others.  This location is in Glastonbury, Connecticut, near the eastern side of town, by Diamond Lake.

glastonbury ct: It's a New Week! January 31 Day Challenge! - 01/16/11 01:16 AM
In Connecticut, the sun is shining today.  Really good for melting all that snow, that has made most roads, impossible to drive on.  Certainly, the visual part of driving has been at risk, due to the huge snow mounds.
Today, I have an appointment for a new listing. I am excited to meet this couple because after talking with them, I can feel that they really love their present home.  Always a good sign.  I, also, have some buyer showings.  Yesterday, I drove around to make sure that we would be able to access the homes that are on our list.  It … (5 comments)

glastonbury ct: Had a Treat, Today! - 01/05/11 06:01 AM
How often do you, treat yourself?  We get so busy helping clients and keeping up with our famiy duties that treating ourselves is not something that happens often.
This morning, 9am, I had a facial.  I had received an email from my Daughter, for a Groupon offer.  It was for a facial~massage, from Venora's Salon in Glastonbury, Connecticut.  They are located by Somerset Square on Naubuc Ave.  Easy to find and good parking.
When I entered, the staff were waiting for me.  They had offered me freshly made coffee, water, fruit and some other goodies that I resisted. My technician was … (7 comments)

glastonbury ct: Santa's List, This Year - 11/29/10 12:51 PM
Wouldn't it be grand, if you could still write a letter with a list of things that you would want for Christmas?
If I could still send my list to Santa, this is what I would ask him for;
a bike helmet (we never wore protective headgear when I was a child)
new gloves, or maybe, mittens ( I think that they are warmer )
   warm and fuzzy slippers
   new pj's
Ironically, as I remember my lists from years' past, these are pretty much the same items that I asked for, most years.  Sure, there was a Betsy … (7 comments)

glastonbury ct: This is a Good Start! - 01/08/10 03:20 AM
The year, 2010, is already giving me a good start for my business.  Many of us have struggled to get through the last few years and our payback is on its way.  It won't rebound like the last high marker, but, it will bounce along until we reach an acceptable level.  After all, someone is moving, every day.  New job, larger family, downsizing a family home, buying a second home for vacations, divorce, and people die.
My good start is possible because I have a strong support system.  I have clients that refer their friends, co-workers and family to me.  They … (7 comments)

glastonbury ct: End of Year Thoughts - 11/04/09 02:07 AM
Just a short post.
As I start into my 24th year in the business, I am reflecting on what has worked for me so far, as well as what I expect will help grow my business in the future. In a referral based industry, such as real estate, there is no larger contributor to success than the people you know.
I just wanted to send a quick THANK YOU to everyone who helped build my business over the past 23 years and I hope I can count on you for many more years to come.
Looking forward to a successful 2010!

glastonbury ct: Answering Questions on Trulia - 10/31/09 09:16 AM
Just wondering how many of you are active and participating on the Trulia site?  It offers an auto-feed from our Connecticut MLS.  I am assuming that it does so, with other MLS systems across the country.
Here's a question that I answered today.
http://tinyurl.com/FranRoksanswer
There are so many details in our business, contracts, mls rules and regulations, that it can be confusing to the consumer.  Finding time to serve and help the consumers is, definitely, part of our scope of work.  What sites are you participating in?  Do you find them helpful to you, as well?

glastonbury ct: What Are You Paying For Gas? For Oil Heat? - 12/27/08 03:20 AM
Isn't is amazing that the price of gas that we are paying for today, is lower than it has been in the past five years?  I want the economy to come back, just as much as you do.  However, you just have to love the savings that we are able to take because of the falling price of oil and gas!  Yesterday, I paid $1.85 a gallon for heating oil.  Amazing!  Here is my oil company.  Backlund Enterprises, LLC.  He takes only cash, but, will deliver to your home up to nine o'clock at night.

How about you?  What are … (2 comments)

Per Greg's instructions,
Page 56, pass the first 5 or so sentences.  This is amazing how this worked out!
My Closest Book to my computer is The Kaizen Way, One Small Step Can Change Your Life, By Robert Maurer, Ph.D.  It's a book that Brian Buffini gave us at the MasterMind Summit Event in 2007.

Here is the passage, according to the Meme guidelines sent to me by Greg:)of Bright Ideas Group!

glastonbury ct: Are You Afraid Your Home Will Sell? - 06/01/08 10:49 AM
In this market, the title of this blog may seem odd to most readers. Here is the scenario that will help explain the question, are you afraid your home will sell?  These particular sellers, and there are a few of these every month now, are not sure that they will find their next home.  They want to go out and look at what is on the market to see if anything appeals to them.  That's fine, I would do the same.  Getting your home on the market quickly, will help you to know how much you will really have in hand, to purchase that … (7 comments)

glastonbury ct: Happy Sunday Morning! - 05/18/08 12:53 AM
In Connecticut, we have been blessed with another beautiful morning!  Sky is clear and blue.  I know it won't last, rain is on its way.  I will try to get out and deliver some of my popbys early in the day.  It's the perfect scenario.  Just popping by to say hello and then, to leave my small gift of appreciation for you. If you are not at home, I will leave your small popby gift, with a note from me and I will call you later.  This will work out well for my stats with my Coach, Dave McGhee.
Pretty funny, because when … (4 comments)

glastonbury ct: Snow, Snow and More Snow! - 12/13/07 07:52 AM
Today, in Connecticut, we were expecting 3-6 inches of snow.  This morning at 5am, that changed to 4-8 inches of snow.  At 8am, the forecast changed to 5-10 inches.  I went out early and completed my errands.  As I was returning home, while in Glastonbury, Ct, it started snowing, at 10:30am.  It was supposed to start at noon.  Jeepers, I guess you cannot count on their predictions.  If you have ever lived in New England, you know the story.  Sometimes, they say 10 inches, we get 1 inch, maybe.  Well, not today!  We have snow!  My black lab, Jack, loves to … (11 comments)
