south windsor ct: Wonderful, Simple Pleasures! - 12/29/12 05:15 PM
We have had dustings of snow, this winter season.  On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  Today, however, we are having an old fashioned, snowstorm.  Remembering the days when my children were young and we would pack up my Chevy Blazer and find a hill to slide down or stop by a local skating pond.  No large expense, just enjoying the outdoors.  When we were young, my parents would tell us to come home, when the street lights came on.  Wonderful, simple pleasures!
This is Jack.  Happy to play in the snow.  He searched and searched, until he pulled this stick out of … (4 comments)

south windsor ct: Christmas Meetup in Ct! - 12/13/12 02:42 PM
Thank you to George Souto for hosting a lovely get together for our AR members in the Greater Hartford Area.   It was  held from 4 to 6pm, at Billie Tees in Cromwell.  I hadn't been there before, so, thank goodness for navigation systems.  Traffic was a stand still on I-91, so quickly, I jumped on Rt 3, South.
I arrived a bit late, but, still in time to talk and visit with everyone.  Valerie and I have been trying to have a face to face for the last few years!  It was so good to meet her and the others, in person.  George treated … (7 comments)

south windsor ct: Let's Go Shopping, Home Shopping! - 10/27/11 09:42 AM
With the holidays coming soon, we are being hit with the ads.  On the internet, on television and yes, even snail mail has increased. Looking forward to holiday sales?  What about home shopping sales?

Certainly, there is an awesome sale going on!  The interest rates and repayment terms have greatly, improved.  The inventory is huge!  Many of the homes have been updated and improved, too!  Some of the homes, may even offer coupons!  You could think of it as a lay away purchase, that you are able to live in and enjoy while you are making the payments!
Make a list!

Asking my AR Community to send a postcard to make a kindergarten class, learn that we have friends, all over the country and Canada, too!  If you could send a postcard to them, I would appreciate it and so would they:)  These are my A+ clients!

If anyone, that would like to help us out, that lives out of state, we would really be grateful to you. The Gingerbread Man jumped out of Ethan's book and is traveling all over. If you could please, send a post card to his class to let them know where the Gingerbread Man has … (7 comments)

south windsor ct: Rented a Bobcat, and Cleaned Up the Yard! - 05/18/10 12:48 PM
This was a project that we knew had to be done, once the weather was right.  Not too hot, (we did have a very warm April, this year) and not too cold or windy.  Finally, last Sunday, the day was perfect for our project.
We rented a Bobcat machine from Arnold's Rentals, in South Windsor, Ct.  They deliver it, right to the spot in your yard.  A few practice lessons and we were good to go!
This side of our yard had always been a challenge.  We were determined to correct it this year.  Now, we can plant some grass and … (8 comments)

south windsor ct: How Long Have You Known Your Client? - 10/11/08 10:17 AM
In this crazy market, there still are things that happen to us that reaffirm why we stay in this profession.  One of my reasons, today, is that I ran into friend of mine while shopping at our local market.  We do see eachother often, and she, along with her husband, have called on my services over the years for themselves and their family.  A few weeks ago, they signed up as buyer clients with me again.  They are looking forward to their retirement and want to downsize.  Her Mom passed away this year.  Her Dad is in a continuing care facility, … (7 comments)

south windsor ct: Mums, Mums are Everywhere! - 09/20/08 12:11 PM
My goodness!  I went out shopping for my Son-in-Law's birthday yesterday and I was just amazed at all of the beautiful mum plants.  Almost every store had them.  From Lowe's, SAM's CLUB, Walgreen's, to the local grocery store, Highland Park Market in South Windsor.  They are huge plants!  I don't think they would have fit in the trunk of my car.  Many people were purchasing them.  So nice to see that folks are beautifying their yards.  Curb appeal is so important right now.  My clients are driving by homes that they have seen on the internet and always comment on how good … (4 comments)

south windsor ct: Give Your Clients a Reality Check - 09/20/08 11:50 AM
I have heard from several agents that their clients are nervous, scared or just still back in the old market.  The more you talk with them, and let them know that you are on top of things, the less apprehensive they willl be.  Call them two to three times a week.  You certainly have the time now:)  If it is a listing client, go over and see them.  Bring a popby gift.  Something seasonal, not something to do with real estate.  Don't stay for more than a few minutes, but, do give them the time to talk with you.  Take new … (8 comments)

south windsor ct: Client Event that Saved Clients! - 09/12/08 12:16 PM
Any one of you can hold this type of event.  Go to your local SAM's CLUB and talk with the Marketing Membership Manager.  I held a breakfast, tour and information event at my local SAM's CLUB this morning at 8AM.  Greg is the Manager of the Membership at this club.  All of the staff helps and greets you and your attendees with warm smiles.  I invitied my family, friends, clients and vendors.  It is a good time for them to all mix in and meet eachother.  We were escorted upstairs to the community meeting room.  We had a table full of goodies.  … (8 comments)

south windsor ct: South Windsor, Ct's Wapping Fair! - 09/09/08 05:01 PM
The Wapping Fair was held at Evergreen Walk in South Windsor, Ct on September 4th thru September 7th.  This fair celebrated its 116th year!  I remember attending with my parents when I was a child.  Bringing my own children, years ago, had become a family tradition.  It has a new location.  Same town, but now, for the last two years, it has been located at Evergreen Walk.  The organizer for this event is the Jaycees.  What a wonderful job they did.  I could write pages on this event, however, when you see the photos, the smiling faces, the animals, the many … (2 comments)

south windsor ct: Back to School is Early This Year! - 08/20/08 02:38 PM
Remember when school started after Labor Day Weekend?  It was the true end to summer vacation.  We used to take one more trip to Martha' s Vineyard and enjoy the beach, boating and fishing.  Just one more time.  This year our local towns are starting school next week.  School will be half day sessions for two or three days, depending on the town.  Then, they will have the Labor Day Weekend off and go back to full time days for the rest of the week.  Luckily, the weather has cooled off.  I can't imagine having the students sitting in the classrooms in hot … (1 comments)

south windsor ct: Who is Your Buyer? - 08/20/08 11:35 AM
You have a buyer contract with Mr. X.  You have him pre-approved and off you go to look at properties.  Setting up appointments within his time frame and yours.  Yes, there are many listings to see.  So, let's try to narrow down what this buyer really wants.  I, actually, made forms for buyers to fill out these "wants in my next home."  On that same form, I ask for their birthday, anniversary (in case they are a couple), favorite restaurant, favorite song, color, etc.  It gets me to know my client in a faster amount of time, on a more personal … (12 comments)

south windsor ct: Make the Offer! - 08/09/08 09:11 AM
It is a buyer's market.  If you are a buyer or thinking of becoming one, here's a free tip.  When you see a home that you like and just not sure of what to do, make the offer.  It costs you nothing to ask the seller, in writing, to offer a price for the property that you are considering to be your next home.  Once you have your pre-approval in hand, the world is yours in the real estate market.  You become empowered with that one piece of paper.  The stronger the letter is, the better your chances for success are.

south windsor ct: Now's the Time! - 08/03/08 10:16 AM
Have you stock piled books, papers, bottles, cans from soda pop and just "stuff"?
How about donating some of these items to organizations who can use a little help?  Special Olympics, Soles 4 Shoes, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, AMVETS, Project Graduation in your local area, or the Senior Citizens, are some of the groups that we give to.  My Son came home one day, when he was in college.  We always have given back to the community.  His words are still on my mind today.  Mom, if you haven't used it or worn it in the last year, you don't really need it.  Why … (2 comments)

south windsor ct: Rule of Supply & Demand - 07/29/08 06:50 PM
Maybe you know about this.  It is from my good friend, Lynette Haber.
Just in case, I thought it was good enough to share here on rain!
Could it be solved simply by doing this?! A man eats two eggs each morning for breakfast. When he goes to the grocery store he pays 60 cents a dozen. Since a dozen eggs won't last a week he normally buys two dozens at a time. One day while buying eggs he notices that the price has risen to 72 cents. The next time he buysgroceries, eggs are 76 cents a dozen. When asked to explain the price of eggs the store … (13 comments)

south windsor ct: Prospecting Ideas that Work! - 07/25/08 05:21 PM
This morning I went out for coffee with one of my agents.  Real early.  Met a lovely lady in the next booth who I hadn't seen for months.  Apparently they come to breakfast, only when school is in session.  She asked me for a few of my cards to give out at her Church.  A member is thinking of selling her home and downsizing.
Off to my hair appointment for nine o'clock.  I have the best stylist!  She has coffee ready for me when I walk in the door.  While she is working on my hair, I wrote my thoughts in my … (16 comments)

south windsor ct: Breakfast Buddies are So Good to Have! I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy! - 07/04/08 12:03 PM
Every morning it is important, to me, to start off the day on a positive way.  Bright and early, my lab, Jack, wakes me up.  You can't help but smile because he is so enthusiastic and happy about this new day! After taking care of his morning needs, I ready myself for the day.  Some mornings, I go out for coffee and breakfast.  Over the years, I have been fortunate to meet really good friends.  It has become a tradition to see this people who greet you with a friendly smile.  Almost like an extended family.
Today, our regular breakfast spot was … (3 comments)
