Make your web site work for you

One of my favorite saying for clients is this – make your web site work for you instead of you working for your web site. I get a lot of clients who want to do more for their web site, get more business, more exposure, more traffic, etc, yet just not sure how to go about doing it or in more cases than not, just don’t have the time to make it happen. In fact, once we do an analysis of their web site, our client is more excited about what can be done for their site than when they first met with us.

Last time, I talked about writing articles about your industry to post on your web site, forums or other areas on the net i.e. Face Book and Active Rain. Here’s another secret that you can use to your advantage to get more exposure for your web site – youtube.com. YouTube slogan is simple – Broadcast Yourself. Think about that for a second – broadcast yourself. What a great way to add a commercial or two or three about your business and what it is you do. And it’s fairly easy to put together a homemade video or a slideshow and upload your commercial to YouTube, although I highly suggest hiring a professional to help you with your video. Building your business with YouTube is a great way to get exposure with video and sound, while maintaining a small portion of your budget. It adds marketing value to your online presence and brings life to your otherwise colorful static web pages and still photos of your product and/or services. And not only can you publish it on YouTube - you can also add it to your web site as well, like your press release section.

Though, don’t expect a huge following or large numbers of viewers watching your YouTube commercial. Unless your commercial is very creative or sexy with some sort of content, your YouTube commercial is a small portion of your marketing plan and with the cost it takes to make your commercial, you can expect a small viewership. However, make it a part of your marketing campaign; it’s a great place to make a start and the impact can aid to the success of your business.

Thanks for reading!
G4 Productions
http://blog.g4productions.com

Search Engine Tips

I recently added this tip to our company blog -

Many of you have asked, “How do I get my web site on the top 10 on the search engines”? Wow! Talk about a hot topic! And to be quite honest, we would like to know the answer to that question too. In our research, there’s no quick answer or “magic” to that questions and, if you do a search, there’s plenty of answers out there. Here’s our quick and easy to understand on this topic. In the future, will add tips on SEO.

Think of your web site as a picnic basket on a family outing. You lay your picnic basket down full of food, go play with the kids or the dog and what happens next? The ants come to take away your food. It is the same concept with your web site - you build a superwamadime site, publish it and the search engine ants or “bots” come and take away your content. At this point, there’s no reason for the search engine bots to come back to your site leaving your site behind your competition. Why is that? The quick answer to this is there’s no fresh content for the search engine bots to come back to and take your content. Keep in mind that the search engine bots don’t really take your content away; they just store into their database for your customers to find you.

So how do you get the search bots back to your site? Here are a few quick examples to get you started:

Spend 15 to 20 minutes a day writing an article on your industry and post them onto your web site.
Write a press release about a new product or service that you provide.
Start an opted in newsletter – with a newsletter you can talk about your new products or services or even post your articles to your newsletter audience. Make sure your newsletters are able to be posted onto your web site.

The bottom line is this, you need to “feed” the search engine bots so they have a reason to come back to your site and take your content away feeding their database and start indexing your site even more.

Thanks for reading!
G4 Productions
http://blog.g4productions.com
