Steamboat Springs during the spring going into summer is absolutely pristine with beauty all around you. This photo above was taken yesterday, Saturday June 4th, 2011 during the spring melt-off on the Yampa Valley Core Trail. While walking the dog, we ran into water spill-off's onto the trail, it was actually very fun and exciting to walk through and cool off during a perfect Saturday in Steamboat. The Botanical Garden was exceptionally filled with color, as always. Everyone was out and about playing on bikes, walking their dogs, walking with their loved ones and just simply enjoying the day. steamboat trails: Summer Bike Rides and Hiking in Steamboat - Rabbit Ears Trail - 04/19/11 11:35 AM

Rabbit Ears Peak One-way distance-3.0 miles Difficulty level-mostly moderate, then difficult; Approximate one-way hiking time-1 hour and 45 minutes; Restroom facilities-no, but there is nearby at the Dumont Lake picnic area. Elevation-10,654 feet at the peak. Dog friendly-yes Entrance fee-no
Directions to Rabbit Ears Peak trail: from Denver, follow I-70 west to the Silverthorne exit 205. (Sign also says Steamboat Springs.) Turn right, (north), on Colorado Highway 9 to Kremmling. In Kremmling, turn left on U.S. 40 west and follow it to Rabbit Ears Pass.
Once you start climbing Rabbit Ears Pass, be looking on your right for the Muddy … (2 comments)

Spring in Steamboat.  Um, isn’t this everyone’s favorite time of year?  The Steamboat Chamber came up with 5 fantastic (literally make us jump up and down clapping) things about Steamboat in the spring!
Groomer days.  Enough said really, but I can’t think of anything more thrilling than throwing myself down perfectly fresh corduroy, regular or fakie, on to any run off the Sunshine Lift.  After all, there’s a reason the Sunshine area has its name, and the spring definitely shows it off! Spring means sunshine, sunshine means goggle tans!  Oh, and more importantly (but not by much), longer lift hours.  Extended hours on lifts … (0 comments)
