Is today's economic downturn different from all the others?
Most Americans are aware of the "Great Depression" and some are still around to remember. Where are we headed? "This time, it's different" an inference that this will be the worst. What's different about this particular economic downturn? Greater unemployment, financial loss is different. The players and the politicians are different. The companies and the products are different. The reason they're all different is that the time frame is different.
