How to stop junk mail, this is something I have been trying to figure out for the last year.  Opening my mailbox to find large amounts of unwanted solicitation is almost as irritating as seeing you have 10 new emails and finding that 9 of them are spam mailings.  I wonder why companies would actually think we want these mailings; it is almost like taking your garbage or recycling and dumping it in someone’s front yard.  At a time when the environment is at the forefront of everyone’s mind, and businesses are striving to be green companies, destroying trees to send … (3 comments)

Well Spring is certainly here in Arlington VA; in fact you could be excused for making the mistake that we are in early summer with the soaring temperatures the last few days.  All this nice weather has brought the flowers into early bloom in the Arlington neighborhoods and within the next couple of weeks the trees will be plentiful with green leaves.  In turn the grass will grow and with that Arlington homeowners will be breaking out the lawnmower, weather it be gas, electric or a push mower.

Should Recycling be Mandatory? The Debate Continues. - 04/01/10 01:30 PM
Back in November 2008, I wrote a blog that posed the question should recycling be mandatory or whether is should be left to individual discretion. I talked about how in Europe and the UK that recycling is enforced and non-conformity like a traffic violation will result in fines.  Let's face it there really should be no excuse for not recycling as most local districts make it really easy. In Arlington VA, homeowners recycling will be collected in recycling receptacles and sorted at the Arlington Recycle Centers.  The only requirement for Arlington Homeowners is to dispose of recyclable waste in the container … (0 comments)
