arlington real estate: Environmentally Friendly Lawnmowers! - 04/08/10 04:07 AM
Well Spring is certainly here in Arlington VA; in fact you could be excused for making the mistake that we are in early summer with the soaring temperatures the last few days.  All this nice weather has brought the flowers into early bloom in the Arlington neighborhoods and within the next couple of weeks the trees will be plentiful with green leaves.  In turn the grass will grow and with that Arlington homeowners will be breaking out the lawnmower, weather it be gas, electric or a push mower.
I have to admit I am not a big fan of the gas … (3 comments)

arlington real estate: Car Free Diet Skeptics Challenge - 03/18/10 05:58 AM
I think that we would all agree that our car plays an integral part in our life. Fortunately living in the Courthouse neighborhood of Arlington allows me to rely less on my car and take advantage of living within blocks of the Orangeline Metro system, it is very convenient that it is such a walkable neighborhood, one that actually scores 92 out of 100 on walkscore.com (check out the walkability of your neighborhood).
Most Arlington Neighborhoods are designed to be in close proximity to meet most of needs including restaurants, stores, and Arlington schools.  Even so we still use our cars … (1 comments)

arlington real estate: Brompton’s at Cherrydale, Arlington VA, Update. - 03/08/10 03:07 AM
Driving during rush-hour traffic in Northern Virginia is normally is not the most exciting part of my day, but recently when I drove past the Bromptons at Cherrydale in Arlington Virginia, it certainly lifted my spirits and put a smile on my face. Rather than seeing the half finished building, which has become a feature of this Arlington neighborhood and looks like something out of a warzone, I was pleasantly surprised to see that work had resumed.  I am sure most of you are familiar with the story behind this Arlington Condo building, but here is a short recap.  The Bromptons … (0 comments)

arlington real estate: Crystal City Planned Revamp. - 12/30/08 07:59 PM
Crystal City is the area of Arlington that is not known for its spectacular nightlife.  Crystal City is more of a business district, were you will find the restaurants full during the lunchtime rush Monday to Friday, but come 7pm most weekday and weekend nights the area turns into a ghost town.  There are plenty of apartment and condo buildings in Crystal City area but residents go out in the District or other areas in Arlington. Crystal City could get even quieter as 13,000 DOD defense-related jobs will vacate Crystal City by September 2011; leaving 3.2 million square feet of office … (0 comments)

arlington real estate: The Best Rooftop Buildings in the Arlington Virginia area. - 12/11/08 02:08 AM
When considering a condo purchase most people think about space, light and location, but not many people think about the possibility of outdoor space.  When moving into a condo building most of us align ourselves with the fact that we will be giving up a garden, and believe we will lucky to find a condo with a small balcony.   A recent article on Urban Turf states that the Washington DC area has some great condos that feature amazing rooftop gardens.  In fact right here in the Arlington, VA area The Residence at Liberty Center in Ballston and The Waterview in … (0 comments)

We hear so much about various bailouts, but there seems to be so much uncertainty who will actually benefit.  Although we may never really know the beneficiaries of these bailouts, there could be areas within the US that may see an economic boost as a result.  A recent article in Washington Business Journal states that Washington DC will see an increase in jobs and economic activity.  Due to the huge government takeover of private capital, the government will need to employee more personnel and expand office space. The Washington Business Journal states that these bailouts are going to create a whole new … (0 comments)

arlington real estate: The Wooster and Mercer Lofts -- Arlington VA - 12/03/07 08:42 AM
Arlington, Virginia is only 26 square miles, but it has packed in a lot of new condominium buildings during the past 7 years despite its limited turf.  I continue spending a lot of time getting to know these buildings as they are constructed.  Though there are a lot of happy homeowners it is normally the negative comments that get posted.  I want to take a moment to “rave” about a new condominium I am very fond of.  In fact, if Sonia and I were in the market for a new home, it would be at the top of our list.   The … (1 comments)
