Fall is a spectacular season in the North Georgia mountains- and the weather is cool, brisk and clean. The fall foliage is truly breath-taking this year. Octoberfest winds down in Alpine Helen, but festivals abound all over these mountains.
Quaint, old-time roadside farm stands, selling pumpkins, gourds, collards, tomatoes, peanuts, turnips, mustard greens and other bounties from the harvest are offered. Locally made sorghum and honey is plentiful.
