. First I'd like to give a BIG THANK YOU to everyone for adding so many quality posts to the marketing group this week. I'd especially like to thank the newbies for bringing a fresh perspective on things and new voices to the conversation. Teri Ellis aka The Lady In Red While there was so much great content to select from as usual, a post by Teri Ellis caught my eye as being particularly outstanding as a reminder of how much we all learn from each other... newbies and "oldbies". In her post Rain Tips

. If You Want To Generate A Lot Of Buzz, This Is An Excellent Example Of How To Do It For the past few weeks, Joffrey's Coffee & Tea Company based in Tampa, FL has been running a very clever promotion to "beta test" their Jamaican Me Crazy flavored coffee. So what makes this promo different, cooler and a lot more interesting than the usual freebies we see on the net each week? #1, they're targeting a very specific audience, bloggers & techies to help spread the word... I know it can be time consuming and a bit overwhelming (info overload) to try and keep up with everything going on so here are 2 gems I saw that are definitely worth taking a look at... advertising: Spam or No Spam? It's your group, you decide + marketing week in review... - 03/04/08 10:19 AM
. Spam or No Spam, it's your group, you decide! A few days ago, 2 posts about spam & plagiarism caught my eye... - Is that Featured Post Plagiarized? by Kathy McGraw - "Would You like a Side of SPAM with Your Comments?" - AR Guidelines Re-Visited by Rich Jacobson I'm not naive enough to think that spam in any of it's forms will ever be totally eliminated. People desperate for attention will keep trying to get us to read their junk. In the past month or two, I've noticed a few(very few) members of

. Lessons from a 14 year old blogger... I'll start off this post with a confession... I'm a news & information junkie. I have friends all over the place so I try to keep up on what's happening (good or bad) across the world. Aside from my news junkie habit, I love to learn. I'll read almost anything from chess strategies (one of my passions) to reviews about the latest internet gizmo or some hot new blog that everyone is talking about. When I first heard of Carl Ocab a few months ago and the title of his blog

If my mom ever knew... (the bear is from VirtualBearGrams.com) If my mom ever knew that one day I'd change my name from marti garaughty to the blog artist, she'd kill me. Actually The Blog Artist is the name of a new website I'm launching in a few weeks. Since I seem to be spending as much time painting with a mouse these days as I do with a paintbrush, I thought it would be a good idea to separate my graphic work from my artwork and... The Blog Artist seemed like an appropriate, easy to remember, brand-able name.

advertising: Learning from Seth Godin's BIG mistake, new Active Rain wallpaper, the marketing week in review - 02/03/08 03:46 AM
Seth Godin's BIG Mistake Imagine waking up tomorrow and someone starts a conversation with you about your Twitter account but... you don't have a Twitter account! Believe it or not, this is what happened to marketing guru Seth Godin. In a post on February 2, 2008 Darren Rowse of Problogger mentioned his recent conversation with Seth Godin about his Twitter account and the 1400+ people following Seth on Twitter except Seth doesn't have a twitter account! Fortunately it just seems to be a fan or admirer who has set up the account and is simply "twittering" content from Seth's

. The Art Of Marketing You Hi everyone... I hope you all had a safe, fun, amazing holiday season and that 2008 has been a good one so far. To start off the new year, I'd like to share a couple of things that caught my eye in the past few days. Probably the thing I like most about the internet, is the ease and ability it gives us to discover such a diversity of interesting info. The first "goodie" I'd like to share has nothing to do with marketing but since there are so many sharp cookies here on AR, I

. The Art Of Marketing You Sometimes looking outside our own industry, beyond our close circle of friends and associates can open our eyes to new ways of thinking, doing and seeing things. In the past few days a few marketing articles caught my eye that I thought I'd share here on AR. While they're not directly related to real estate (except for the testimonial post by RSS Pieces), the concepts are definitely worth knowing about. First from The Wall Street Journal (Aug 9, 2007), the article The Psychology of the $14,000 Handbag gives an inside look
