mueller austin: 2136 Emma Long Street, Austin TX 78723 - 02/08/12 06:12 PM
Here's a fun home for sale at Mueller Austin - why do I say fun? Well if you know much about the master planned development on the site of the old Robert Mueller International airport just a few miles from downtown and UT, you'll know that its new urbanist ideals mean attached housing or homes that are on smaller lots.
To every rule there's an exception, and this house proves that point. It's actually on a large lot - not by Texas standards, but by Mueller standards. So that means 0.1075 acres, which is positively huge for out here. This large … (0 comments)

mueller austin: No more lotteries but a lucky dip at Mueller Austin - 08/18/10 04:52 PM
The Pool at Mueller is one of the best kept secrets of the airport development, which was so oversubscribed at the initial home selling phase that there were literally lotteries to figure out who could buy a home.
The development has been inhabited for over two and a half years now, and one of the smartest things the developers did was to open the Ella Wooten pool by the first summer - one of the hottest and driest summers in recent Austin history.
The secret to the pool is that it is actually open to the public in open swim times. … (0 comments)

mueller austin: Resale Homes in Mueller Austin - Number Two! - 07/10/09 05:33 PM
How do you sell your home at Mueller? The second attempt is under way right now. The first resale ended up leasing their home recently, after 37 days on the market. And now the second resale home is available.
I’m a little surprised by the listing for a number of reasons - there are no photos of it, and no sign is on the street.
Given the challenges of competing with the builders when selling a home in a development under construction, pricing and marketing are critical. Right now there are no photos of the home in the Austin Multiple Listing … (0 comments)

mueller austin: Walking to Work in Austin - 03/08/09 12:45 PM
When I lived in Europe, I commuted to work by foot, underground train, bicycle or bus.  I thrived for a decade without a car - going to entertainment venues, restaurants, work and play on public transport with the occasional taxi thrown in for good measure.
How is this possible in Austin, TX without living downtown in a condo?

mueller austin: A Healthier Life at Mueller Austin? - 01/11/09 12:00 AM

Does living in a home at Mueller Austin make you healthier and fitter? That’s the question posed by UT professor Harold “Bill” Kohl’s doctoral student’s research.
In this Statesman article about the study at Mueller,
“[Kohl] was somewhat surprised to learn that the focus at Mueller wasn’t on health. Rather, the idea was to create a New Urbanist neighborhood that featured a mixture of homes, shops and offices within an easy walk of one another. New Urbanism emphasizes aesthetics, ecology and community.

mueller austin: Austin - Green, Greener, Greenest - 11/20/08 09:58 PM

Austin scores well on top 10 lists of greenest US cities, sometimes described as the ray of sunshine in the field of oil pumps. Green Neighbor is one of the City of Austin’s many green programs that were showcased at the Mueller Greenfest on Saturday.
The challenge is to protect and improve Austin’s environmental resources, and the program is in the form of a game. The idea is to adopt earthwise practices and make them a habit. Each time you do so, you earn credits- 75 credits earns a prize and the reputation as a green neighbor.

mueller austin: Relocating to Mueller Austin - What Does It Feel Like? - 10/02/08 03:09 PM
Homes in Mueller Austin: people planning a relocation to the Robert Mueller Airport Redevelopment in Austin Texas are often curious as to the feel of the neighborhood.
One thing that I always mention is the walkable nature of the development, and the greenspace that you see as you take those walks. The Mueller redevelopment plan calls for "a network of greenways and parks". The Mueller community framework diagrams show green areas throughout, and these plans are becoming a reality:
73 acres of perimeter greenways and uninterrupted hike and bike trails 30 acre community park 32 acres of neighborhood and pocket parks … (0 comments)

mueller austin: Mueller Austin - Now You Can Find Your Perfect Home. On a Map. - 10/02/08 03:06 PM

It's now possible to find homes in Mueller Austin using google maps! As a new development, there's a lag between streets being built and the ability to find them on maps.
When I checked this morning, the following streets are now mapped:
Littlefield, McCloskey,Pinckney, Tom Miller, Zach Scott, Comacho, Emma Long, Antone, Cal Rodgers, Sahm, Mattie, Scales and Lawless. The one way alleys for garage access are also shown. The Berkman Drive connection to Manor Road is not yet mapped, and this can be an easier intersection to leave the neighborhood by if you want to head South on Airport.

mueller austin: Streetman Starts to Flex its Mueller Muscles - 08/20/08 04:30 PM
Streetman Homes at the old airport redevelopment at Mueller have unvieled plans for their flex homes on Berkman Drive between Antone and McCloskey Streets. These will be available in the current phase, commencing construction in September, for occupancy around February 2009.
They have three concept drawings for the townhomes which are modeled as contemporary European structures with flat roof and stucco sides. All are two story with a master bedroom and balcony at the front of the home which is separated by a 16'x22' courtyard from the two car garage.
Concept A at 1500sqft has 2 bedrooms upstairs, each with bathroom, … (0 comments)

mueller austin: Town Center Town Hall - 08/14/08 11:05 PM
Last night Catellus, the developer for the Robert Mueller Airport Redevelopment in Austin, hosted the Town Hall to kick off the public part of the Town Center planning process. Mueller Town Center is envisioned as a walkable center for retail and entertainment in the heart of the new urban village - right off Aldrich Street.
The presentation started with a brief history of the project, from CARE back in 1984 (Citizens for Airport RElocation), through the formation of the Mueller Neighborhood Coalition and the appointment of Catellus as master developers. One thing that I took from this history was that the … (1 comments)

mueller austin: Mueller Impact - 04/26/08 06:49 PM

I was looking at statistics for MLS Area 3 in Austin, TX which covers zip codes 78722 and 78723. Year to date sales are down in volume, but the sales are up in price. Windsor Park, University Hills, Vintage Hills, Delwood et al. have all seen dramatic rises in property values over the last four years, in part because of the unique character of the homes, and in part because of their convenience - close to UT and to I35, Hwy 290 and Hwy 183.
The Mueller Airport Redevelopment has also had a large impact, bringing new retail, commercial and … (0 comments)
