real estate contact management software: Not using all of your CRMs features. That's OK. - 02/22/12 07:22 AM
There is a common complaint with agents feeling that if they don’t use all the features of a CRM, that they are spending more money than they should for features they don’t use. Developers have to build a CRM to suit the needs of the many, so there will undoubtedly be features that not everyone wants. It’s one thing if all you want is an electronic Rolodex. If that’s the case then just use Outlook or Google and be done with it. But if you want other features, chances are you’re going to have to take a CRM that has what … (5 comments)

real estate contact management software: A Brief History of CRM & who will survive? - Part 2 - 02/09/12 08:18 AM
So what determines which CRMs will survive? There are certainly no hard and fast rules because there are far too many variables. Issues to take into account other than the obvious, “Is it a good CRM?” are:
How long have they been out of beta? (meaning when they finished testing and started selling it) How big is their user base? How many people are in the company? Are they part of a larger company that can support it for a while, or is it a mom and pop using personal funds? How is their support? While the length of time a … (1 comments)

real estate contact management software: Are you using your CRMs activity plans? - 02/02/12 12:49 PM
It's a shame so few people use their CRM for Transaction Management. Many agents use the CRMs activity plan/campaign/task series capability for following up with leads or for post closing follow-up. But very few understand the value of tracking your listings and closings with that same feature.
For those of you who have ever created a prioritized checklist of tasks for the day, you know what it feels like while you are burning through that list. It is so much easier and faster to complete your tasks for the day for a couple reasons. One is that you do not … (3 comments)

real estate contact management software: Which comes first, Contact Manager Book or Comparison Matrix? - 12/02/10 09:24 AM
It has come to my attention that people are looking to my new book to help them pick which contact manager to use. The book does not help you pick one specific CRM by itself, for two reasons.
1) Real Estate Contact Managers/CRMs are constantly changing
2) The Comparison Matrix is regularly updated by the vendors
So why read the book?
All you have to do to get a sense of how little you know about what is involved in purchasing a CRM, is to think about how much bad information is out there about Real Estate agents and the industry in … (2 comments)

real estate contact management software: Respond - Do you like it? - 09/30/10 10:37 AM
I am always soliciting feedback on various CRM's. If anyone is using Respond, would you please let me know if you are using it, how long you have been using it, and what you think of it? I am only interested in people who are using it now, as opposed to people who have used it in the past and no longer use it. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated!

real estate contact management software: Contact Management & CRM's - A healhty dose of patience can be required - 06/16/09 02:35 PM
Based on many conversations I continue to have where certain issues keep coming up, I think it is time to re-visit a few points about trying to find, and learning how to use, Contact Management and CRM Solutions.
1) Do not judge a CRM by its graphics alone. There are several products available that may not appeal to the eye aesthetically, but if you look past the graphical appearance, you might be surprised. There is one product I have in mind in particular that definitely looks dated, but in actuality it has been improved more frequently based on user suggestions, and for a longer time, than any … (5 comments)

real estate contact management software: Agent Office Serial #1 - 06/04/09 11:03 AM
Recently I received an order for an Agent Office upgrade, which in and of itself is nothing unusual. But this order was different. One detail one must provide when ordering the upgrade is the serial number of the software. Well I looked at this order and saw that the serial number was A000001 ! The very first one! The man's name is Bruce Hackel, and he has been using Agent Office since the very beginning! I spoke with him a little, and he first got it in 1992, and has been a happy camper for over 17 years. I'm not saying … (2 comments)
