Fort San Juan de Ulúa - Mexico #2 - 03/26/11 02:59 PM
Fort San Juan de Ulúa has been attacked by the British, the Dutch, the French and even the United States while it has been protecting Veracruz, Mexico. The port here is the oldest and largest in Mexico with a fantastic history. Fort San Juan de Ulúa can be reached by boat or a bridge from downtown Veracruz. The Fort with its museum is well worth the time and small admission fee. As is the case with most museums and historical sites in Mexico, it is closed on Mondays.

Are You Learning Another Language -- Here's A Tip - 03/24/11 08:40 PM
Are you learning another language either for fun or for business? Here is a fun tip. Start with children's books. You can find them at your local library or bookstore. I am always working on my Spanish for Latin America and I really enjoy the dual language books with everything in Spanish and English (usually side-by-side pages). I have also found very basic books in Spanish are a great way to relax for just a minute and still learn something. Follow my blog as I give you tips and fun facts about Latin

Springtime in Wyoming - Thoughts of Spring Renewal - 03/21/11 11:29 PM
I've given a lot of thought to Spring Renewal. I even waited until the calendar told me that it was spring, but mother nature made me stop and really think about springtime. in southwest Wyoming, it's easy to think that spring will never come. In the last week we got 2 or 3 feet of new snow. Where I have shoveled paths I now have to throw the snow higher than my head. I have a four-wheel-drive Jeep and today I had to shift into 4-low to get to town and back. it snowed most of the day and returning home

The Door is Open to Mexico - What Does a Big Mac Have to Do With Mexico? - 03/20/11 10:49 PM
The Door is Open to Mexico - What Does a Big Mac Have to Do With Mexico? Ae you familiar with the Big Mac Index? Economics based on a sandwich --- the infamous Big Mac. The Economist Magazine (www.economist.com) started the Big Mac Index in 1986 as a semi-humorous way of explaining exchange rates. Big Macs are everywhere and we can compare the costs. This gives you a fun way to see how far your dollars will go if you are visiting or possibly moving to another country. Many United States and Canadian citizens are considering

Each Closing is a New Beginning - 03/19/11 11:06 PM
Over the years I have given my clients different closing gifts. I've felt that a gift should be thoughtful and memorable. And I've come to believe that the closing gift should be much, much more than just a thank you gift. it should be a beginning for future contacts and business. One of the first personalized closing gift ideas was to have ceramic pieces designed and fired specifically for my client. Each piece was selected for the type of decor that the client seemed to prefer and on the piece (usually on the base) would be

Facebook Fridays - 03/18/11 03:41 PM
Last week Emily Read came up with a great idea called Facebook Fridays. She explained that she wanted to start a new tradition on Active Rain. Here is her description: "What does it mean? It means that not only do we support each other on ActiveRain - but each Friday we take the time to visit 5 Rainmaker's Facebook pages - giving them a big thumbs up!" I love the idea and want to help with a few rainmaker's Facebook profiles: First one - of course is Emily Read of Vancouver, BC - http://www.facebook.com/pages/Real-Estate-Extraordinaire/144374695604622 Next

Did the Irish Discover America? - 03/17/11 05:04 PM
As we celebrate St. Patrick's Day, we may have something extra to celebrate. The first non-native people to set foot in the New World may have been Irish. St. Brendan, born in County Kerry, Ireland, set sail in about 512 to 530 AD to search for the Garden of Eden. There are many medieval texts which describe St. Brendan's voyages in the Atlantic and the Irish were noted early explorers. St. Brendan was also called Brendan the Navigator and his adventures were described in "Navigatio Sancti Brendani " (The Voyage of Saint Brendan) which was written between

Referrals - Who Deserves a Referral Fee? - 03/05/11 07:03 PM
Who Deserves a Referral Fee? I've recently been reading comments and posts about paying referral fees. It is an interesting subject and I think worthy of discussion. I have read about agents who have given referrals and received nothing in return or possibly a token such as lunch. I've also read of agents who have refused to pay referral fees because they did not receive timely referral paperwork. I've heard of agents who have given referrals and later expected exorbitant fees or even some who have simply forgotten about the referral. I'm interested in your opinions and thought
