Sellers want to believe their home will sell.  
Sellers want to think it is a beautiful to others as it is to them.  Sellers want to believe the value they see in their home will be apparent to buyers as well.  Sellers Want to believe.
Real estate agents are the trained professionals that make that belief possible.  When it doesn't happen it is the agents fault in the eyes of many sellers.  This can be true and it can also be the sellers lack of market understanding.  This is something else sellers do not want to hear.

How do families value homes when the parents have lived in them for decades?  Hopefully they call a professional that has market and neighborhood knowledge!
I get a call from a family member that outlines a story of Mom being moved into assisted living.  She is a meer 89 years young and not missing a step!  She has resisted selling the car, resisted adding a couple hearing aids, resisted going into a community that offers meals every day.   According to her son.....she has been a real pill!  Heck she is still very active and stronger than her children.

During my presentations for Listings I am always amazed at homeowners and the value they perceive their property to be worth.  Then when you question how they arrived at the number it all becomes clear. 
I find that most look on the MLS for a while and see homes that sound like theirs, although in a completely different neighborhood and use that price as a sales value....whether it sold or not!  Others go by what neighbors have told them they should be able to get.  Yet others listen to a neighbor that just sold their home and the supposed price "they say" they … (0 comments)
