How the Stimulus Benefits “Green” (And How You Can Position Yourself to Benefit as Well) - 02/28/09 05:18 PM
Want to know more about the stimulus package?.......The below article, written by Ryan Moehring, of Denver, CO, provides facts and links that can help the real estate community and our clients.

Via Ryan Moehring (EcoBroker International):
You may think there is too much "pork" in the recently signed stimulus bill. Or perhaps too much spending or too may tax cuts. Its passage may offend your Keynesian or Monetarist economic views, and may, you believe, lead to the very demise of capitalism itself (OK, that may be going too far). You may not think we need a stimulus at all-that we should … (1 comments)

Every Family has a Comedian! - 02/28/09 11:50 AM
Being from a family with ten siblings, you can bet there where a lot of funny, mischievous things happening in our home.  My six sisters and I were always fooling around.  But, I remember my one sister, Alice, she was indeed the comedian in our family. There were times we laughed so hard, our stomachs would hurt, and tears would just flow.
The below video reminds me of my sister Alice, the comic!   It is so funny.   ENJOY!

2009 WV You Tube Youth Forum Contest - 02/27/09 12:28 PM

Kids care about a lot of things - their families, their education, the environment. Although kids can't vote, their voices should still be heard.   Children's Day at the Legislature will be held on March 19, 2009, and a contest is underway that gives West Virginia students an opportunity to let their voices be heard by presenting questions to West Virginia's lawmakers via video.
Prevent Child Abuse West Virginia (PCA-WV) and West Virginia Public Broadcasting are hosting the "2009 WV YouTube Youth Forum Contest" which is officially underway.
To participate, students simply need to think of a question they would like to … (3 comments)

Dear Diary, My Passion is............ my WEALTH! - 02/22/09 03:52 PM
No, No, I don't mean monetary, I mean wealth as in:
My loving husband, Claude.  He is the most caring and compassionate person I know. Last night while I was working on my Active Rain blog -- setting up my outside blog, commenting on blog posts, learning new techniques, installing new links, or writing posts, he was in the kitchen preparing our dinner.  Having Claude in my life, gives me a wealth of happiness.

Aligators, alligators!! - 02/18/09 06:15 AM
While visiting the Blue Cypress Lake in Florida, we saw a few alligators in the swamp.  As our boat slowed near the edge we watched the alligators, they were very interesting, big, and a little scary.  This was my first time in seeing live alligators.  AND, I was very glad to be in the boat.

Blue Cypress Lake - 02/17/09 08:35 PM
While visiting friends in Vero Beach, we went on a guided boat trip on the Blue Cypress Lake, 20 miles from Vero Beach.  The lake was just beautiful.  The lake's average depth is only 8 to 9 feet, which allows for a good deal of water vegetation to grow.
Our guide informed us that the Blue Cypress Lake is a fisherman's paradise: some of the cleanest water in Florida makes the perfect home for bluegill, catfish, chain pickerel, crappie, largemouth bass, shellcrackers, and warmouth. Best known as a premiere destination for bass, the largest largemouth on record at the lake weighed in … (2 comments)

One Pair of Hands - 02/17/09 11:02 AM
As a child, I remember going to church, and seeing one common act.......people kneeling down, clasping their hands and praying. And, at the dinner table, we held hands, bowed our heads and prayed. This was a common practice for people to pray and thank God for all we have.
I wanted to share this beautiful song, "One Pair of Hands", sung by Carroll Roberson.

We use our hands in so many ways, but watch the video and listen to what one pair of hands did for us.
As the song goes..."put your faith into one pair of hands"

A Prayer Breakfast - 02/17/09 10:27 AM
While visiting friends in Vero Beach, Florida this week, we attended the 5th Annual Vero Beach Prayer Breakfast.  This event was held at the Indian River County Fairgrounds on February 19th.  I would guess there were at least 2,000 in attendance.
Through the inspiration of this gathering, the Vero Beach Prayer Breakfast hopes to encourage each participant to be a part of a small group that cultivates growth and facilitates positive change to create God-centered communities.
The only bad part was that we had to be there by 7:00 a.m.  It was well worth it. The breakfast was delicious, and there … (5 comments)

The Greenbrier Humane Society's 2009 Fur Ball - 02/06/09 04:05 PM

The Greenbrier Humane Society held its 11th annual Fur Ball on Saturday, January 31, at the Brier Inn. The theme was the Wizard of Paws.

There was plenty of food, cash bar, door prizes, and a silent auction.  Of course, what kind of event would it be without music?  Two bands, the Old School Abby and the Zemph quartet provided a festive atmosphere for dancing.
My husband, brother, and I attended to support this cause, and had a great time.

Please, Please, Clean the Fan! - 02/04/09 10:08 PM

While reading Barb Szabo's post on Attention Sellers: Ten Affordable Tips for Making Your Home "Market Ready,  I remembered a vacant home that I listed which was in dire need of some house cleaning.
The house I was listing, had been vacant for a few months.  So, I asked the seller to hire someone to clean the house, since  she was not able to clean it herself.  About a week later, someone called and wanted to see the house.  It was indeed clean, so I thought.
As we walked through the kitchen, I looked up at the ceiling fan, amazed … (5 comments)

Snow.....how peaceful it makes me feel. - 02/03/09 07:42 PM

Here in Lewisburg WV, we haven't had too much snow, as some other areas have.  Today, it had started to snow early in the afternoon.
I was sitting at my desk reading some blog posts, when my dog, Zeke, brings his toy and wants to play.   I looked out my office window  and  said "Okay, lets go play".....and out the door we went.
Oh, I always love it when it starts to snow.  Everything is covered with a white blanket.  It is so beautiful and serene.  I watched Zeke play in the snow and looked around at how quite and … (9 comments)
