If you like antiques, and Victorian houses.....then you are going to have to visit Lillian’s Antique Shop, located in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. The magnificent, two-story, house is a Colonial Revival Queen Anne Style cottage, built in 1905. The house is located one block from the historic Greenbrier Resort. The owner, Linda Kothe, first used this property as a Bed and Breakfast and antique shop. Tastefully decorated with antiques and collectibles throughout the B&B that were for sale. Today, Linda only sales antiques in this beautiful Victorian home.

On Friday, October 9th, the Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT) held A Taste of New Orleans culinary benefit at Blackwell's Restaurant in Lewisburg, WV, hosted by Mary Cowan and Ouida Davis. This was the second "Taste" fundraiser benefitting the theatre Last year Roger and LewAnne Cerasoli hosted A Taste of Italy in their Greenbrier Sporting Club home. The bar opened at 6 pm, and was followed by a delicious New Orleans inspired buffett prepared by Culinary Insititute of American alumni Chef Tim Rodgers. On my way to work on Wednesday, I thought of a great idea for a Halloween decoration for my front porch. So, on my way home I stopped at Lowes and purchased, 3 plastic pumpkin heads, and a 4-foot pole. I cut holes in all three pumpkins (top and bottom). I didn't make the holes too big, as I wanted the pumpkin to stay secure. I put the pumpkins on the pole (bottom, middle and top) and secured the pole with bricks in a flower pot container. Then added some green vines around the pole and pumpkins.....my pumpkin topiary. Topiary (17 comments)
Taste of Our Town Fall Festival in Lewisburg, WV - 10/11/09 11:03 PM
The 25th annual "Taste of Our Town" (TOOT) was held on Saturday, October 10, 2009, from 11:00 am-3:00 pm. This event is a benefit for Carnegie Hall. Residents and visitors from across the region gathered on the historic streets of downtown Lewisburg to sample delicacies from local restaurants, civic clubs and organizations. The main street in Lewisburg and some side streets were blocked off for this annual event. This year, TOOT tokens had to be purchased, as the vendors did not accept cash in exchange for food. Bring the kids for some freaky fun and roaring rides at the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center's Annual Tail Gate Trick-Or-Treat Halloween party. The date of this event is October 31, 2009, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm., and will be held at the Modlin Track and Field. The children will enjoy seven different carnival rides. This community-wide event last year hosted over 1,500 children. The theme for this year's event is Nursery Rhymes. Community businesses and organizations are invited to participate. And, if you are looking for some luminous holiday ornaments, I know just where to go...... to the Greenbrier's "Christmas Depot Shop" in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. The Christmas shop opened at the Greenbrier in 1996 in a former historic train depot dating to 1931. The best thing about the Christmas Depot Shop besides the Christmas ornaments, collectible Santas, nutcrackers, water globes and holiday decorations, is that it is opened year-round. The Amtrak’s Cardinal Line originates in New York and goes to Chicago. The Greenbrier's Tavern Casino opened today as scheduled by the new owner, Jim Justice. I was invited with the news media today to visit the Tavern Casino and the new restaurant, Prime 44 West Steakhouse. The Tavern Casino will serve as the property’s introductory gaming facility until the highly anticipated new, underground Casino at the Greenbrier officially debuts in April, 2010.

I was invited with the news media today to visit the new restaurant and the Tavern Casino. What an experience this was for me -- I met Jerry West and the new owner of the Greenbrier, Jim Justice. Jim Justice said "the restaurant was completely transformed into an upscale steakhouse. We worked a lot of nights so we could open on schedule.
