Can Making the World More Fun Improve People's Behavior? - 11/30/09 11:41 AM

Below are three great videos by Volkswagen (or rather ad agency DDB Stockholm) that appears to have hit the bullseye with their new campaign “The Fun Theory”.  The Fun Theory is a series of experiments, captured on video, to find out if making the world more fun can improve people’s behavior.
The Fun Theory -- the easiest way to change people's behaviour for the better is by making it fun to do.
Piano Stairs
Take the stairs instead of the escalator and feel better is something we often hear from our doctors and friends.  How many actually follow … (9 comments)

Pick 3. Spend 50. Save your Local Economy...The 3/50 project - 11/25/09 12:22 PM
A great reminder to support local businesses.
Via Michael Caruso Real Estate Group:
PLEASE, support YOUR local economy!
The idea is to commit $50 each month to locally owned businesses. Maybe that means rethinking where you currently invest your money, opting to pick up that birthday card or pair of jeans in a locally owned business instead of the big box you’ve been going to. Or maybe it means eating out once a month because you realize slamming the brakes on all spending stalls economic recovery. And it means not shopping online, 99.99999% of online sales generate nothing for the community you live … (8 comments)

'Twas the Night of Thanksgiving - 11/24/09 01:36 PM

TWAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING, BUT I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP. I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS, I TRIED COUNTING SHEEP. THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED - THE DARK MEAT AND WHITE, BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT. TOSSING AND TURNING WITH ANTICIPATION, THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK BECAME INFATUATION. SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN, FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR, AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE, FULL OF GOODIES GALORE. GOBBLED UP TURKEY AND BUTTERED POTATOES, PICKLES AND CARROTS, BEANS AND TOMATOES. I FELT MYSELF SWELLING SO PLUMP AND SO ROUND, 'TIL ALL OF A SUDDEN, I ROSE OFF THE GROUND. I CRASHED … (13 comments)

You Think Your House is Worth WHAT? Pricing Your Home to Sell
O.k., so you've looked on the Internet, you've checked the Real Estate Weekly - and you've talked to your Neighbors.  You're pretty sure you know what you WANT your home to be worth.  Next step?  You call the Realtors in.
Everyone says you should interview 3 Realtors - so that's what you do!  And sceptically you await their Verdicts!  Does the highest Bid (because that's what it often is)  win your Vote?  Well it shouldn't and let me tell … (6 comments)

The Reason for Christmas - 11/14/09 11:05 AM

Twas the month before Christmas*
*When all through our land,*
*Not a Christian was praying*
                                            *Nor taking a stand.*
*See the PC Police had taken away,*
*The reason for Christmas - no one could say.*
*The children were told by their schools not to sing,*
*About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.*
*It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say*
                             * December 25th is just a ' Holiday '.*

*Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and … (13 comments)
