March 30th is National Doctor's Day - Pay It Forward to Your Doctor! - 03/29/11 11:09 PM

I was at my doctor's office today and read that March 30th is National Doctor's Day.  I didn't know about this observance day that was created to show appreciation to our doctors.
I don't know about you, but when I am sick...my doctor is the person I want to see....so today I will pay it forward and send a "thank you" eCard to my doctor's ...  Dr. Lee, Dr. Ratliff, Dr. Burroughs and Dr. Ryan.  You are probably wondering why so many doctors.  In 2009 I had congested heart failure and had my left adrenal gland removed.  These doctors … (17 comments)

Speechless Sunday - Can You Believe It - You Can Walk Inside This Sycamore Tree

It is something you don't usually find here in West Virginia.....A Sycamore tree that one can walk in and out of, and could probably hold at least ten people.  It is a large, beautiful tree as noted in the below collage .... you can see right through the tree.

The Sycamore tree is located on one of my residential land listings in the Shaw-Mi-Del-Eca Village overlooking the Greenbrier River.

Speechless Sunday - Signs of Spring Popping Out - 03/20/11 06:09 PM

Spring is finally here!  Days are getting warmer and flowers are blooming.   While visiting my brother in Tennessee last week, I noticed his crocuses are flowering and mine have barely poked their heads through the ground.

He Certainly Has Rhythm!
If you haven't seen this 4-year-old boy play the drums...you are definitely in for a treat.  Watch his face expressions and his foot on the bass drum.  Not only is he cute and has rhythm, but he's truly talented and just so remarkable! ENJOY I certainly did!

I never forget my sister's birthday, since it is on St. Patrick's Day! - 03/17/11 11:45 PM

I never forget my sister's birthday, since it is on St. Patrick's Day!  Today my sister Brenda is 70 years young!  We had decided to drive to our brother's in Tennessee and celebrate her birthday.  So off we go....Brenda, her husband Bob, sister Betty and me.  We had dinner at Carrabbas Italian Grill in Johnson City.  It was a fun evening, being with my family, although the other six siblings could not make it.  Dinner was delicious and no one wanted dessert after the meal.  But, as you know, what is a birthday without at least a candle.  And, our … (15 comments)

Part 4, Paying It Forward - The Women Build Project is Moving Along!

The walls and trusses are up, thanks to volunteers at Cedar Crest College, a private liberal arts women's college in Allentown, PA; and to Hiram College, a coeducational liberal arts school in Hiram, OH.

I volunteered on Saturday, March 12th, with three other women volunteers working on the roof.   Lora Pierce, Jocelyn Hanna, Mickie Hughes, and me completed 1/4 of the roof with the help and guidance of Jerry Walls one of the construction managers. For the first time, I learned … (8 comments)

Closing Gift Ideas in My Hometown, the Kodak/Active Rain Challenge

Lewisburg, West Virginia, known as the "Coolest Small Town", is a great place to live with a population of less than 5,000.  This historical town has many great shops and restaurants.  I love to shop so, of course, I like buying closing gifts for my clients.
Shopping is so easy as we have one main street with many great shops to select closing gifts.  I may give a gift card from Lowe's or S.J. Lumber Company  for home supplies, or shop at one of the local … (17 comments)

Speechless Sunday, Almost  - Missing the Beach

I spent a week in Panama City, Florida.  My friend had been there for five weeks, and I flew down to spend some time with her.  It was a great week of relaxing, laughing, shopping and sun bathing on the beautiful beach.  The Panamal City beach is the best beach this side of paradise with the beautiful sugar-like white sand and emerald green waters.  I am really missing the beach, but we are already planning a trip for next winter!
