On Saturday, May 12, volunteers arrived at Habitat’s Summer Elms development at 9:00 AM to start on the Second Women Build house in White Sulphur Springs, WV.
The speaker for the event was Lynn Swann, White Sulphur Springs Council woman, Marketing Director at the Homestead Resort, and a Habitat volunteer. She read a Proclamation from West Virginia Governor Earl Ray Tomblin declaring the week May 5-13 as National Women Build Week in West Virginia.
About eighteen women, ages 7 to 70 took part, including representatives from Lowe's and Experience Works. Volunteers for the day were:

On Friday, April 6th and Saturday, April 7th, Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity in partnership with New Vision Renewable Energy will be hosting "Do It Yourself Solar Panel Workshop and Installation" event celebrating spring and the power of the sun.
The event will kick off Friday, April 6th at the Pendleton County Community Building in Franklin, WV, from 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm, with a presentation from Ruston Seaman, Executive Director of New Vision Renewable Energy.

Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity has started building another house in Greenbrier County. The house is located at 102 Barton Road, White Sulphur Springs, WV.
On February 1, 2012, Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity broke ground in partnership with Colette Godfrey and her family. On February 18th, team members at Lewis Nissan in Beckley, WV, and some community volunteers helped frame the walls. On Saturday, March 3rd, Collette Godfrey (future Habitat homeowner), and her son Deshaunte, and fifteen other volunteers, joined together to raise the walls. The West Virginia and Almost Heaven "Habitat for Humanity" are partnering their fund-raising efforts at this years Greenbrier Classic. Volunteers are needed to help work the concession stands during the Greenbrier Classic and the three concerts.

Part 7, Paying It Forward on a Snowy, Rainy and Windy Day!
Saturday, April 2nd, was a very cold day for working outside. Young ladies, teens, girl scouts, dance troops, mother-daughter combos were invited to come out and help build this house for the Blevins family. Despite the snow, wind and rain, over 20 volunteers showed up to help this family who are desperately in need of a house. Laura Blevins and her four children have been living in a shelter since August.

This is Part 6 of the Women Build 2011 Project, a joint venture between Habitat for Humanity of West Virginia and Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity, and is the first Habitat home in Greenbrier County being built by all women.
With only six weeks to go, there is still a lot of work to do before the house dedication on May 7th. The walls and trusses are up, thanks to volunteers at Cedar Crest College, a private liberal arts women's college in Allentown, PA; and to Hiram College, a coeducational liberal arts school in Hiram, OH.
