fishhawk lake: Fishhawk Lake Walking Meditations are Good for the Soul!
- 04/16/18 08:50 AM
There are many great activities to enjoy in nature at and around Fishhawk Lake. One of the most pleasurable (and free) is to take a walk around the lake or nearby on Greasy Spoon Road--where a plethora of trails and old logging roads will take you far off the beaten track. Walking meditations are a way to exercise without it feeling like a drudgery. It gives you a chance to take deep breaths of mountain and forest air, views of Fishhawk Lake, surrounding woods, creeks, and most definitely wildlife! Clear your mind of city life, stressful thoughts and let it all go,

fishhawk lake: Using a Local Expert When Buying Property
- 01/26/18 11:32 AM
Using a Local Expert When Buying Property Go Local for Your Purchase! When it comes to searching for a property in an unusual setting, like Fishhawk Lake, located remotely in the coastal range of Oregon, you are best to search for a local expert to call. If you are completely new to the area and have many specific questions (as well you should) don’t you think it makes sense to speak with someone who has served in that area as well as lived there for many years? Maybe you want to know what the weather patterns are, or the diversity of the community, or

fishhawk lake: What Does Retirement Mean to You?
- 11/12/17 01:46 PM
What does retirement mean to you? As much of our population of Boomers ages, this word comes up often in conversations, in both personal friendships as well as with clients. When? Will you?? What do you intend to do IN retirement, i.e., what does the rest of your life hold? The word retire came about in the 1530s, from the Middle French “retirer” which means to retreat, to withdraw, especially to some place private. In the 1640’s it took on more of a note of leaving work of some sort. In looking at synonyms, there was everything from “ebb” to “sever connections”. Yin

fishhawk lake: Relax! You're at the Lake!
- 10/22/17 09:33 PM
While attending a home inspection of my buyer’s, I happened to go outside for a moment to enjoy Fishhawk Creek, the property's boundary that also feeds Fishhawk Lake. This view presented itself to me. I didn’t have my camera, so I told the home inspector (who is also a homeowner at Fishhawk Lake and a friend) about it and he said, "Go, get your camera! We’ll be fine.” I live just minutes away and hoped that the lighting would still be the same when I came back. I got lucky as the stillness of the waters hadn’t changed. This photo now graces

fishhawk lake: Friday's Fotos Apolloni Vineyard an hour from Fishhawk Lake
- 10/12/17 09:51 PM
There are some remarkable vineyards just about an hour’s country drive from Fishhawk Lake, in the Gales Creek area just off Hwy 6. Apolloni Vineyards happens to be one of our favorites and three of us Fishhawk Lake full timers took a day to go winetasting to celebrate an upcoming birthday. It is very easily found, but feels like you just popped up to an Italian villa for a bit of wine and food. We were treated like queens and we chose a 2011 Pinot Noir after our wine flight to have with our fabulous bits of this and that. We dined

fishhawk lake: The Aroma of the Woods and Cabins
- 09/06/17 05:52 PM
As people navigate through city sights, sounds and smells, heading to more open air and country settings, the air changes, and your scents head on a different path. For those who grew up on lakes in the woods, whether it be Michigan, Minnesota or where I spent childhood summers on an island on the St. Lawrence River in between NY state and Canada, there are certain unmistakable essences that permeate through woodsy areas and bring back the most delicious memories imaginable! There is a sweet and pungent bouquet that comes from warmed tree droppings on Mother Earth’s floor and there is

fishhawk lake: Getting Back to Fishhawk Lake--Can't Wait!!
- 01/05/17 09:46 AM
Getting Back to Fishhawk Lake--Can't Wait!! Towards the end of 2016, I was approached to sell this cabin on the canal at Fishhawk Lake in Birkenfeld OR. Many many years ago, my husband and I were going to make an offer on it and about a New York second before that, the current seller had made an offer and it was accepted. Fast forward about 13 years. I walked into this cabin and fell in love all over again. I went home and told my husband about it going back on the market. Since we were now debt-free, we were looking for a

fishhawk lake: It was a weekend of socializing--A taste of the Fishhawk Lake Community
- 08/21/16 11:10 AM
It was a weekend of socializing--A taste of the Fishhawk Lake Community We may be remote, but we sure know how to have fun in a small, interconnected community! Friday night we entertained one of my dear friends who lives in LA County in California and who bought and sold a Fishhawk Lake lakefront home through me years ago. She called me up as she and one of her best friends were doing the sweep of Oregon, Mt. Hood to the Coast and wanted to visit before heading off to see more of Oregon on her vacation. We had a blast and we

fishhawk lake: Fishhawk Lake My Real Estate Ups and Downs in the last Ten Years
- 07/06/16 11:10 AM
First off, if you don't like the roller coaster, then this career isn't for you! For those of you who've been in the biz for umpteen years, this is no big deal. OR, maybe it is and you're just plain TIRED OF THE RIDE. Me? I'm lovin' every minute of it! It's UP, it's DOWN. Mind you, my ride has only been for the last 10 and 1/2 years, but boyhowdy, I've seen some rough rides! My first year, a major FLOOD in my neck-of-the-woods. Vacation lakehomes with 4' of water, mudslides and wind for what some called a "perfect storm". Most

fishhawk lake: Fishhawk Lake-Notes from Home
- 04/17/16 11:07 AM
While on double back-to-back listing appointments, I ran across these two "locals", my Fishhawk Lake buddies, Fr. Rock and Bernie. I had stopped to take some spring afternoon photos of Fishhawk Lake in all its glory when these two happened along. We exchanged updated conversations about what all of us were doing at that moment and I suggested getting a photo of them over by the lake. They happily obliged. They were taking a leisurely walk about the lake and both were carrying a couple of Fr. Rock's hand-hewn walking sticks. Many of us have been lucky enough through the years to be

fishhawk lake: Reminiscing about Summer on Fishhawk Lake
- 12/14/15 05:19 AM
Reminiscing about Summer on Fishhawk Lake As I sit here preparing to work up a new lakefront listing in December (coming soon), I thought I would take a brief moment to revisit "summer at the lake" with a short video I shot, called Waterplay on Fishhawk Lake. I had forgotten about shooting this, but what a treasure to warm my chilly bones on this December afternoon! Take me to the Lake! Just because it's winter, doesn't mean that there aren't homes to sell. My Fishhawk Lake lakefront listing will be coming soon! (And if you can't wait, just call me and let me tell you all about

fishhawk lake: Sale Pending on Luxury Lakefront Fishhawk Lake home!
- 08/05/15 02:34 PM
This luxury home sale will set a new standard for properties listed and sold at or on Fishhawk Lake. The largest home on Fishhawk Lake at 6214 sq ft has everything someone would wish for in a home on a private lake and the buyers fell in love thanks to the photos seen on Realbird, one of the websites that I advertise on. Luxury Lakefront Lifestyle with this Lodge! The buyers were specifically looking for a home on a private lake in Oregon that they didn't have to do a thing to (they were tired of gutting and

fishhawk lake: Fanciful Flowers and Fun at Woodstock Nursery Hwy 26 Manning Oregon
- 05/03/15 12:34 AM
Fanciful Flowers and Fun at Woodstock Nursery Hwy 26 Manning Oregon This delightful nursery is about an hour's country drive from Fishhawk Lake. Hwy 26 is a major highway that can take you to the Pacific Coast beaches. BUT! Today, we're going the opposite direction from Hwy 47,as you hit Hwy 26, you would go east (towards Hillsboro) just a few miles. (If you see the DQ, you've gone too far!) Owner, Tammy Wood had fun with creating her nursery's name, a play on her own, which is very smart! And, obviously she has fun with her business. AND she recycles! Those "flowers" are

fishhawk lake: Are You a Niche Master or Jack of All Trades, Master of None?
- 04/24/15 01:40 AM
Are You a Niche Master or Jack of All Trades, Master of None? For most of my young adult life, I bounced from job to job, never really finding where I was really supposed to be. I came to realize that what I was good at was sales and marketing...a skill, but not a NICHE. I often felt like a Jill-of-all-trades, knowing a bit about many things, but not a master of any. In 2002, I met a fella at a Quik Print. He was holding a water-color rendering of a beautiful lake cabin. We got to chatting and I was mesmerized, asking him,

fishhawk lake: Fishhawk Lake Project Solutions Team Summit with Powerhouse People!
- 02/12/15 10:10 AM
Fishhawk Lake Project Solutions Team Summit with Powerhouse People! Several people have been working behind the scenes to prepare for this day as it has been in the planning stages for months. We just got the community center (i.e., the "clubhouse") repainted Monday (it used to have a barracks ugly green on the walls) and I got to hang a small smattering of photos I have of Fishhawk Lake, mostly on canvas print to at least give a little bit of pop to the blank walls before the Summit was held today here. (More to come once I get more

fishhawk lake: Fishhawk Lake-Building a Boat in Your Bedroom-Not for the Faint of Art
- 01/04/15 10:08 PM
Fishhawk Lake-Building a Boat in Your Bedroom-Not for the Faint of Art See, there's this GUY. And he and his wife bought a cabin. At Fishhawk Lake. From me. Not a big cabin mind you, but one with two small bedrooms and a converted garage. Which became their master. But not for long. He put two kayaks on the wall in there. Two that he built in six weeks while on sabbatical. Great looking wall art! But, that wasn't enough. He had to build a rowboat, a Wineglass Wherry (called such because of its shape). And the sucker's pretty dang big.

fishhawk lake: Fishhawk Lake-An Evening Out With Essential Reds
- 11/04/14 12:35 PM
Tonite, I took myself out on a date. (I'm one of the Reds). There was the fire, the outside venue, the good wine and appetizers just perfectly suited to the appetite. The view was one of the darkening of the lake...a high light fog, just perfectly misty to create an ambience of mystery for the senses. A beautiful firepit, compliments of Frontgate (love this company, they have great products). A comfy couch--Frontgate, once again! I sit back taking in my nightscape. The heavy slap of something hitting the water...perhaps a beaver? Otter? The flapping of wings was missing, so

Fishhawk Lake Real Estate-Halloween Pumpkins Are Growing On Trees! They're baaaaaaaacccckkkkk....every year. I was just driving along from Fishhawk Lake, minding my own business when I caught sight of a new Farm Product…it seems to be only available in small quantities on a tiny stretch of road out in the country going from Fishhawk Lake to Vernonia…that’s in Oregon (or Orygun, if you prefer!) for those of you scratching your heads saying…WHERE?? It really was a sight to behold. Halloween Pumpkins growing on trees! And they all looked like they were supposed to be there. Most
