louisiana: Today is Arbor Day in Louisiana! - 01/20/12 02:10 PM
The dead of winter, as home gardeners and landscape professionals know, is the perfect time to plant a tree. From February 27 through March 4, the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry hosts its annual Shade Tree Sale at its offices throughout the state. More than a million superior genetics hardwood and pine seedlings have been distributed to the public at bargain basement prices during the sale since it began in 1976.Planting a tree is a truly unselfish act. You don’t plant them for yourself, but as a gift for the generations to come. To plant a tree is an act

louisiana: It's Official! Louisiana is the HAPPIEST State! - 12/19/09 10:41 AM
According to an article for the journal Science, the research is complete, and there were many surprises. Here are the top 10 happiest states (includes the District of Columbia): The happiest states: 1. Louisiana2. Hawaii3. Florida4. Tennessee5. Arizona6. Mississippi7. Montana8. South Carolina9. louisiana: They say Ike missed LA! - 09/15/08 11:52 PM
I have so much sympathy for our neighbors to the west. They were hospitable to so many LA citizens for a very long time after Katrina. I hope the caring Texas Realtors know that we have not forgotten your help in 2005. We are here to help you now. If you had to leave your home because of storm damage, we are ready to help you in north LA, too. The news media reports that Ike missed LA and moved into TX. Here are a few pictures of what Ike left us. If we missed the main part of the storm, just imagine what happened in Texas.

louisiana: More rain in sight. :-( - 09/03/08 11:23 AM
The news tells me that Louisiana dodged the bullet with Gustav. I doubt the people in Baton Rouge and many other parts of the state would agree. This was no Katrina, but Gustav definitely brought its own brand of havoc. Here in north LA, we thought the storm had passed, but we were wrong. We had 9.3 inches of rain in a 24-hr. period Tuesday. More is expected today. The wind is not an issue, but lots of areas are experiencing flooding. In fact, many of my neighbors had water come into their houses last night. I was spared, but I was

louisiana: Oh, no....this time it's Gustav. - 08/30/08 03:59 PM
Can you believe it? Here we go again. Even though I am 300 miles from the coast in Monroe, LA, the devastation of Katrina was felt here, too. Not so much the weather, but the social impact. LA has not recovered, and there are thousands of our brothers and sisters still scattered over the US who have shared their personal tragedies with the entire nation. Please, God, don't let it ever happen again. My daughter and granddaughter are in Algiers. I hope they are on their way to my open door and loving arms. Best of luck to all during your "evacuation-vacation!" If you're in the Monroe area and need
