real estate: Distractions - 08/03/09 10:39 AM
Trying to balance real estate with family and civic obligations can be a challenge at best. Do you delve into a project, running comps, updating records, or contacting clients and someone wants to ask a question or the phone rings or other things distract you from the task at hand and you go on to a different subject or item than you were working on. You come back to the task only to have another interruption? Try this technique which can help the feeling of frustration with distractions, by taking a few minutes in quiet and the end of the day and

real estate: What Do You Sell? - 10/23/07 01:15 PM
Price, listing price, selling price, pricing is everywhere. What do you sell? If a prospective client says the price you want to list my house for is too low what do you do? If a prospective buyer says the price is too high what do you say? How many times have you heard that your commission price is too high? The price objection is the quickest way for a client to get rid of a sales person. Do we cave in on the listing price and raise the price even though our comparatives and research indicate that the price we have chosen is

real estate: Do you..... - 10/14/07 11:25 PM
When you preview a home with clients do you leave a business card? If not, why? Is the current trend away from this practice or am I missing something. I like to follow up with those that have viewed my properties to get some genuine feedback on what they liked, didn't like etc. It always helps to get an (hopefully) unbiased view so that if there are corrections to be made I can do that for my client. Information and feedback are very important to me. I have had a few very professional agents in my area email or call me

real estate: Movie Night in Surprise, Arizona - 10/07/07 09:13 AM
Does your community sponsor a "free" movie night on a huge screen? The City of Surprise, Arizona has 3 or 4 of these nights a year. It is a great family outing at the Surprise Stadium, spring training home of the Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals. They open the field and anyone can come, throw a blanket on the ground and watch a family film shown on the huge outfield screen. The gates open at 6 PM and the movies starts around 6:30 PM. They open the concession stands if you want to purchase food or you can bring your

real estate: "The" Big Game Planning and Transportation - 10/02/07 03:27 PM
143 days until the big game in Arizona. For those of you planning on attending don't forget to arrange for transportation when you make your other reservations. Some 17,000 parking slots will be eliminated around the stadium during the week to accommodate various NFL events. An entertainment venue in Phoenix call Cricket Pavilion will serve as an ancillary parking lot and ticket holders will be bussed to the stadium from there. Even Cardinal season ticket holders will not be able to park at the stadium on game day. Because of the tight security, supplied by Homeland Security, FBI, Secret Service, local, state

real estate: Not Only Home Owners - 08/28/07 08:47 PM
I can see that not only home owners in HOA's have apathy, but most real estate agents as well. It is so much easier to take an easy path of least resistance and insure the sale goes through and not worry about tomorrow. But how many more referrals could be gained by doing the little things, like making sure your clients know exactly what they are getting into when buying in an HOA? CCR's and HOA's are like the weather, everybody complaints about it but no body does anything about it. Obviously the weather you can't change, but HOA misery's can

real estate: Actions Speak Louder Than Words - 08/24/07 12:50 PM
Realtors and real estate agents have an image problem with honesty and ethics issues when it comes to the public's perception. In the latest Gallup poll conducted in November 2005, a randomly selected sample of 1,002 adults rated the honesty and ethical standards of 21 types of professionals. Real estate agents ranked No. 11 with 20 percent of those surveyed giving them a very high or high rating. That is compared to 82 percent for nurses, who ranked No. 1, 65 percent for doctors, and 44 percent for funeral directors. That is not a very favorable assessment for a group of
