surprise arizona real estate: Talk is Cheap - 11/02/09 09:44 PM
The statement, "talk is cheap" goes hand in hand with watching what a person does. Years ago, a person's word was their bond. If a deal was "struck" and people shook hands on the agreement it was as good as gold. No attorneys were required, no long documents; a man's word was binding. In "those days," a person's integrity meant something to them. Most would rather die than lose their good name. Unfortunately, a person's word does not mean what it did in the past. People will say anything to get what they want regardless of the truth of their statement

surprise arizona real estate: Promote Yourself - 09/14/09 10:24 AM
It has been said, "If you don't go out and tell prospects how good your product [service] is: it's like winking at a girl in the dark -- you know it but she doesn't." As real estate practitioners we must promote our services and what we can do for our clients in any way possible. Some long time agents shy away from the new social media and will not adapt and blog. It is a good time examine your marketing approach. How do clients find you? Can they find you and if so do they understand your specialty and how you can

surprise arizona real estate: "Cause Something to Happen" - 09/04/09 12:22 PM
The 2009-2010 college football season is upon us with the opening games last night. One thing I believe we can take from college football is a saying on a sign that legendary Alabama Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant hung in his locker room. "Cause Something to Happen" I read a blog about social networking and how many "old" school agents are still prospecting and refusing to learn and use new technology. Many sit around and reflect on the good old days and grouse about how nothing is happening for them. It would be wise to use Coach Bryant's saying in our lives. Things sometimes

surprise arizona real estate: Smile - It Won't Hurt - 08/03/09 01:08 AM
We get so busy at times, rushing here and there, appointments, meetings, family activities and responsibilities it is no wonder we stress. Have you noticed passing people in a store or on the street and how grim they look. Have you wondered if you looked like that or are you too busy to notice? Try spreading a little cheer and pleasant attitude as you go by smiling and/or saying a kind word to those around you. People like to be complimented or receive a smile and perhaps when you do they will pass it on. Certainly it will help you feel

surprise arizona real estate: I'm Stupid - Help - 07/26/09 10:45 PM
I admit, I'm "old school" and over 45 so, I'm obviously stupid. In the "olden days" I was taught to be courteous to others in my personal and professional life. Courtesy wasn't a sometime thing, only to be used when it was convenient, easy, or if I felt like it. For example, if I received a phone message and the caller requested information I was taught to respond back in a timely fashion, even if it was to acknowledge the call and tell the person I would need to get the information and get back to them. I learned that being

surprise arizona real estate: The Wizard of Westwood - 11/05/07 10:57 AM
The legendary coach John Wooden became famous for his 10 National Champion UCLA Bruin basketball teams and his philosophies of life and how to achieve success. One of his teachings says, "Why do so many people dread adversity, when it is only through adversity that we grow stronger?" This can apply to the Real Estate market in our world today. We continue to try to find buyers that can qualify for loans, sellers who want to price their homes "to" sell and lenders who will work with us. How many extra hours have you put in? What new marketing efforts have you started?

surprise arizona real estate: Have a Voice - 11/03/07 10:33 AM
Many cities in beautiful Arizona have elections on Tuesday 11/6. Many offices are up for election and candidates need your support. Take the time to let your voice be heard by voting for the people of our choice. Don't let a few make decisions in your cities and towns by staying home because it isn't a General Election with National implications. In Surprise, Arizona we have the chance to elect a new mayor for the first time in years. You have a voice, let it be heard at the polls this coming Tuesday!

surprise arizona real estate: Moonlighting - 10/26/07 01:17 PM
I read an interesting article in the Orlando Business Journal about Realtors taking a second job or even switching careers during this current housing downturn. On such Realtor was going to supplement his income by waiting tables at the Stonewood Grill & Tavern. One young lady decided to take a nine-week course in Hawaii to become a certified Bikram Yoga instructor. One of the story participants said, "I don't think I would call it changing careers - it's survival." The article mentioned that there are too many houses for sale - and too many real estate agents trying to sell them. So after finishing

surprise arizona real estate: Dog Eat Dog - 10/18/07 05:44 PM
I recently blogged about leaving a business card after viewing a home and getting feedback when I contact other agents, see: http://activerain.com/blogsview/237463/Do-you. One comment bothered me so I thought I would throw it out to see what my fellow Rainers thought. One comment said, no response is a response. So what do you think of that? What kind of response is it? My thought process was to get feedback from the clients and other agents point of view good or bad. Certainly if the client doesn't like the place feedback to me as to why is certainly helpful, in my opinion. Certainly
