Second Quarter Market Stats Mamaroneck/Larchmont 2011 - 07/18/11 09:42 AM
The first thing I should mention is that we had a terrible winter.. one storm after another, and so the spring market came late.... I should also mention that more and more home sellers wanted to sell their homes at the end of the school year, and so there are currently 48 listings pending which would have changed the second quarter stats dramatically had those homes closed sooner.
SO, based on that, total units sold were down by 24% compared to the spring of 2011, sales prices were down 31% from the first to the second quarter 2011, and down 20% … (11 comments)

Book Review "Bel-Air Dead" by Stuart Woods - 07/18/11 09:14 AM

What a romp! The only way to describe this book... I could not not put this book down. I love the characters.... Stone Barrington, an attorney whose shrewd, intelligent mind saves the day for his clients - all the while seemingly through a haze of Knob Creek cocktails, and fine wines... It's a little glimpse of the rich and famous without  the reality show.... or done with intelligence... My only critique is that Mr. Barrington's sexual encounters are fast and furious (this is a man's book)...  and as one of the ladies is with him one day and another man … (4 comments)

Book Review: "Michael Connelly's "The Fifth Witness" - 07/18/11 09:00 AM
As a die hard Michael Connolly fan, I could not wait to read this book featuring the character, Mickey Haller. As a Defense Attorney, he isn't interested in whether his client is innocent or guilty, but just offering the best defense.... This is such a topical book, and could be happening around our corner as we speak.... foreclosures, the companies which initiate the proceedings, and the unhappy and angry home-owners.... When a banker is murdered, and his client is charged, Mickey steps in with his usual wit, intelligence and intuitiveness for the truth... SO many twists and turns... with a great ending. Cannot wait for the … (8 comments)

Don't Hate me Because I am Honest! - 07/12/11 06:21 PM
I am like the best friend you wished you had - I will be totally honest  (but kind) with you - always.. WHY?  Because you trusted me enough to ask me to represent you in the sale of your home, and I invested a nice sum of money presenting your home to the local real estate market through professional photography,a luncheon and raffles to the agents, videos, open houses both public and more and more broker's open houses (remember the wine and cheese party?).. and that might mean giving you some unpleasant feedback, some stats, some suggestions. If I were NOT to … (74 comments)

Baseball - not just for the Americans! - 07/10/11 10:09 AM
Being a Brit, I naturally became very excited when I noticed there was a Great Britain baseball team. After all, my youngest son has been a catcher since the age of 9, plays baseball in college, and he is used to seeing his older brother, A.J.  train and compete for Great Britain in the sport of luge for the past 2 Olympics (Turino 2006, and Whistler 2010)...

Not knowing whether he would be even considered, I have always urged my children to follow their dreams...  Brett contacted the Great Britain Baseball Team, and after a one on one … (14 comments)

You didn't work on July 4th? - 07/05/11 08:15 PM
In just reading Phil's last post, in which he mentions that someone was complaining he didn't return a call from Friday night to Saturday on a Holiday weekend.....I was inspired (and who wouldn't be!) it made me think of this morning... I was invited into someone's home for a listing presentation.... I mentioned in passing that since the office was closed yesterday, I did something for me.. I went to the local Humane Society to help clean out the dog cages for a little while thinking they would be short-staffed as it was a holiday...  "Oh", the wife said "You don't work … (32 comments)

Independence Day and UFO's! Are they here looking for real estate? - 07/03/11 03:57 PM
I am sure we all saw the movie "Independence Day" starring Will Smith. Well have you noticed the increasing amount of UFO sightings around the world? There was one a week or so ago in London.... and the "UFO's were seen by quite a few people, different videos, etc..  it is all so strange.. (Rod Serling are you out there?  Craig? Anyone?)

I showed my sons, and they then recounted the January, 2011 sighting in Israel over the Dome of the Rock, then the day the airport shut down in Hangzhou, China last year and 17 flights were cancelled.....
I find it … (21 comments)
