Peter Faneuil We all know that there is a Faneuil Hall in Boston, built in 1742 by the wealthy French merchant, Peter Faneuil. Did you know that he was born in New Rochelle on June 20, 1700? His wealthy parents fled France after the 1685 revocation of the Edict of Nantes, and Benjamin Faneuil had traveled to America some 10 years earlier, married Anne Bureau in 1699, and sired three daughters and two sons.
