mls: How To Fix A Bad Picture - 12/21/10 09:31 PM
I bought a new Panasonic DMC FZ 100 camera for Xmas hoping it would solve a problem I had with my other camera but alas it is has not yet. I had to make an extension tube for the wide angle lens to work and haven't quite got the hang of it. However to show how powerful Adobe Elements 8 is, here is a picture that took me about 10 minutes to fix. I won't go through each step but basically I had to use the Distort tool to stretch and straighten the angles. To use that effectively you first need

mls: How To Fix That UGLY MLS Bathroom Picture - 11/04/09 07:40 AM
Here is an easy way to fix that ugly MLS bathroom picture you were going to take. STOP and don't do it. Take a picture of the park instead or the gateway coming into the neighborhood or just a nice picture of an apple pie or something but please not the ugly bathroom picture. The bottom picture is of a retention pond at Grayson Pond in Virginia Beach taken around sunset or so. http://www.geneallen.com Come and see ALL the Homes for Sale in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, as well as the rest of Hampton Roads. mls: Night Photography in MLS - 01/20/09 06:54 PM
I found this in our local MLS. Someone in Hampton Roads has been reading the posts on night photography but didn't pay attention to how not to do it. I won't even mention the slant. Sometimes you have to wonder what is going on with peoples heads and why did this person get the listing and what else is wrong. I think the only thing worse then a bad day picture is a bad night picture. At least they had a pretty good flash going on. Can photo shop even help a picture like this? http://www.geneallen.com/ Come and see ALL the

mls: CHUMBY To The Rescue - 05/12/08 07:17 PM
As my alarm goes off I have to have my fix of a picture of my grandchild with some music playing and the latest stock quotes coming across the screen. The device that does all this is called the CHUMBY which is a computer encased in a leather pillow about the size of two fists. It runs on the internet via wireless and is just full of widgets that you can get for it. Go check out the site at www.chumby.com You may be pleasantly surprised at the cuteness of it. http://www.genesellsvirginiabeach.com/ Come and see ALL the Homes for Sale

mls: The Newest Chinese Import To Virginia Beach - 05/12/08 07:02 PM
The newest import to Virginia Beach is an oyster. Actually about 100,000 of the critters. You see the Lynnhaven River used to home to the most succulent and biggest oysters to be found most anywhere. Several diseases have plagued the native oysters and the Chinese oyster looks to be the rivers salvation. The Virginia Seafood Council is trying to introduce the species and make sure they can survive without introducing new disease's or other problems. Along with providing jobs the oysters act as a natural filter for the river and filter out algae and other debris in the water. This is

mls: .org - 05/06/08 09:03 AM
Is it ok to use the .org or .biz or .info to get the keywords you are looking for in a web address? All the ones I want are taken except the .org. Is there a difference in the way search engines look at a .org or will I be found there any ways. I have read a lot of information on all this but it is still so confusing. http://www.geneallen.com/ Come and see ALL the Homes for Sale in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, as well as the rest of Hampton Roads. mls: Apple Slightly Bruised - 05/03/08 04:37 PM
My friend is a user of an iMac with a 20 inch screen and his pictures of homes he took in Suffolk, Va weren't coming out quite right. We found out the problem wasn't him, it was the computer he was using. The system can only display 262,144 true colors. The other millions of colors are a trick. Apple uses a technology that shows similar shades at high speeds to create the illusion of the desired shade. It works for the most part but you can see colors that don't appear smooth and that can be disconcerting. I guess you always need to be

mls: Low Light Reading - 05/03/08 03:41 PM
As I get older I read slower and that often gets into the night. So when I am reading those all those offers I have on my listings in Virginia Beach I often need extra light. The wife doesn't like the light on, so what to do? I don my reading glasses from PantherVision with LED's of course and then I am good to go. You can see these and other great lighting ideas at http://www.panthervision.com/ http://www.genesellsvirginiabeach.com/ Come and see ALL the Homes for Sale in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, as well as the rest of Hampton Roads. mls: Tornados and Value - 04/30/08 03:03 PM
Here is a real life question that the appraiser who appraised my listing didn't know at the moment but had to find out. When a tornado tears up your community is that a bad thing for value? If your comps are no longer comps does that affect value? If there aren't as many homes in the area does that raise value? (supply and demand). We had a F3 tornado go through Suffolk, VA a few days ago and some communities are more than half gone (no one was killed or severly injured). These are your typical subdivison built in the last ten years

Recently over 200 people gathered in the Virginia Beach Convention Center to talk about eh direction of the public schools. There was a public meeting and then 11 focus groups. This is input for a six year strategic plan the school system is developing. Some of the themes were: *Students need up to date technology skills *Schools should help motivate students to take contro of the theri education. Many good ideas and thoughts came out of the meeting. All of this will be drafted into a plan and submitted to the school by Aug. http://www.genesellsvirginiabeach.com/ Come and see ALL the Homes for Sale in

mls: Can Navy SEAL's Get Fitter? - 04/26/08 10:17 AM
Apparently they can. A new lab opened at Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base is the first of its kind in the Navy and it is here in Norfolk. Of course the goal is to minimize SEAL's injuries and maximize their time in uniform. The lab comes by way of the Univesrity of Pittsburg. The process can be as simple as a better way to do a squat to measuring body fat in a space age pod. Hopefully the partnership will pay off in a buffer, fitter SEAL. http://www.genesellsvirginiabeach.com/ Come and see ALL the Homes for Sale in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, as

mls: Property Tax Hike? - 04/26/08 09:54 AM
Suffolk has a pretty good financial health for the moment according to a consultant for the city. That could change if the city does not raise property taxes in the future. If the current level of services is kept the city could be looking at a 10 to 11 cent incres by 2013. That is assuming that property prices don't increase over the next few years. I am an optimist and expect them to increase so the property tax doesn't have to. http://www.genesellsvirginiabeach.com/ Come and see ALL the Homes for Sale in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, as well as the rest of

mls: Help Identifying a Bird - 04/20/08 03:03 PM
I saw a bunch of these sitting on top of some condos, in the trees and on light poles around my house in Virginia Beach. I have lived here a long time and never saw them before. I thought at first they were the buzzards we get around here but I was wrong. I cropped the photo in Adobe a bit so you could see just the bird. Any help would be appreciated. I have looked online but finding a bird without any idea of what it is can be difficult. He is about two feet tall and the colors look accurate. Ugly

mls: Recently Remodeled?? - 04/16/08 02:35 PM
I was out previewing houses and came across one I thought would be a good match for my buyer. The house was remodeled in 2007. I took some pictures of what I thought added the most value to the house. Keep in mind this is a $174k duplex type house. Am I being to picky for a house in this price range? or should I expect a little more reguardless of the price. This is the Great Room This is the Master Bedroom This is the only bath upstairs Is some kind ofspecial paint or mold I can't tell http://www.geneallen.com/ Come

KEEPM or fold. That is the question. I would rather KEEPM and here is a web site "KEEPM" to help you keep them also, your contacts that is. It is a free contact manager that is web based called KEEPM. I always hear people asking about contact management and this one sounds like something to check out. The company also offers other software so go check them out. http://www.geneallen.com/ Come and see ALL the Homes for Sale in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, as well as the rest of Hampton Roads. mls: Community Project Funds - 04/14/08 10:26 AM
What does a JumboTron screen on the Norfolk city owned science center Nauticus have to do with the Virginia Port Authority? Well it seems that the port authority is providing money, services or other help within reason for local projects. Which brings us to Nauticus. The authority gave the city $2million dollars to help with the fix-up at the Town Point Park in downtown Norfolk. Part of that money will be used to purchase the screen. The screen will of course advertise upcoming events. If you know of a worthy cause, give the port authority a call. http://www.geneallen.com/ Come and see ALL
