History of Oakley
Oakley was first settled in 1897 by R.C. Marsh in the area east of Antioch, CA and north of Brentwood CA. In 1898 March was named the first Post Master.
Settler's came to the area, but many people ridiculed the area as "Sand Lappers" due to the sandy soil. It was felt nothing could grow in the area. The critics were proved wrong as the area developed a strong agricultural reputation with abundant growth of fruits and vegetables. In the 1950's Oakley was the leading grower of almonds in California and still has an annual Almond Festival.

Oakley Housing Market. This report on home sales in Oakley California is based Single Family Homes reported on the MLS as of August 13th 2009. Due to late reporting the numbers in this months Oakley Market Report might vary slightly from Last Months Oakley Market Report.
I have taken a hard look at Short Sales this month since they are dominating the local market. The number of Bank Owned Homes on the market continues to shrink. Last month it stood at 56 and is now down to 44, the slide continues.

Oakley is one of the most interesting markets in East Contra Costa County. Home Buyers can find excellent Homes in Oakley at great prices, but the market is up and down. These numbers are pulled from the MLS on May 11, 2009 and focus on Single Family Homes.
In April 58 homes sold in Oakley. The Average Price of those Oakley Homes sold was $212,066.00 and the Median Price was $197,500.00. The homes sold spent an average of 58 days on the market and the average price per SF was $109.00.

If you’re thinking of Buying a Home or Selling a Home in Oakley CA, now may be the time to act. This market is still dominated by Bank Owned Homes, but it appears to be turning around. These numbers are taken from the MLS on April 22, 2009. I have only looked at Single Family Homes. Some of the numbers vary slightly from Last Month’s Oakley Market Report, probably due to late reporting on some sales.

The numbers were taken from the MLS on March 27, 2009. The figures are based on Single Family Homes.
In January 2009 60 homes sold in Oakley California. The average price of the sold home in Oakley California was $237,159, with a median price of $212,500.00. The average price of homes in Oakley California was $122.00 per SF.
