pure politics: Separation of Church and State? - 02/27/12 09:53 AM
Separation of Church and State? I have been watching the primary with interest. The topic of Separation of Church and State has become a big issue because of some of Rick Santorum's beliefs. What I find odd is Rick has some beliefs and some really well thought out ideas about the roll of the family, the problems with birth control and how the Sexual Revolution has been so destructive. I would agree with much of what he says, I am not Catholic and do not have a problem with contraception as part of family planning – but his thoughts are

pure politics: End of Life Panels - 02/11/12 09:20 PM
End of Life Panels I think we have all been watching the shocking treatment of the Catholic Church and other religious institutions this week by the Obama Administration and the Department of Health and Human Services as they prepare us all for Obama Care. Over the last couple years people have talked about the Death Panels under the new Health Care Laws. Although many people claim the term “Death Panels” is an exaggeration, you might begin to think more and more about how accurate that term might be. This little video gives us an idea of how they might work. Note

pure politics: You Get Paid What? For Doing What? - 02/02/12 03:00 PM
You Get Paid What? For Doing What? A big part of my morning ritual is to watch the Video Blog: Think Big Work Small with Frank and Brian. Now this Blog is mainly designed for the lender community, but they have a lot of cool stuff for real estate agents and even the general public. Yesterday there is a great bit of information on the new Citizens Financial Protection Bureau CFPB. These outfit is supposed to protect consumers. But they are now hiring and they cover some of the positions and salaries. Unbelievable what these people will be paid. It is

pure politics: How do you want to be Taxed? - 02/25/11 03:47 PM
How do you want to be Taxed? Well if this was an episode of Family Feud I am sure the survey would show # 1 answer - "Not at all." Realistically we need to have some taxes and no one is going to like some tax for some reason. Now I am one of those people that think Taxes are way to high and we need to lower them or eliminate some of them, but we will always need some. I just wrote another post - Are we all caught in the same web? talking about how we are all in

pure politics: Do you want to know why people are Mad! I'll tell you Why! - 11/09/10 12:17 PM
I often here that people who cannot make their agreed upon mortgage payment have nothing to whine about. That they are the problem, that if only they would get out of the way and suffer the pain we could get passed this mess. I understand that the so called Liar Loans and the Average Americans choice to live above their means while using the house as an ATM to finance a joy ride of consumer spending is a big part of the problem. No doubt this country and the people in it have a price to pay for our mistakes. Those

pure politics: Twiddle Dumb and Twiddle Dumber - Part Three! - 10/01/10 05:13 PM
In Twiddle Dumb and Twiddle Dumber - Part One I talked about reading Michael Lewis's book The Big Short and some of my opinions about the Stock Market and Big Corporations. In Twiddle Dumb and Twiddle Dumber - Part Two I start looking at what went on in the Bond Market. I do not claim an expert knowledge and I am really looking for your feedback and understanding too. This post picks up where #2 left off and they really should be read together. So where were the Rating Agencies that gave all these slices of the Bonds the good ratings.

In Twiddle Dumb and Twiddle Dumber - Part One I talked about reading Michael Lewis's book The Big Short and some of my opinions about the Stock Market and Big Corporations. Some of you that think you know me ought to really see what I have to say. In these post I want to try and explain what they were doing in the Bond Market and why it was bad. I do not claim an expert knowledge and I am really looking for your feedback and understanding too. Basically I think we all understand that mortgages get bought and sold after

pure politics: The First World War Ends on Sunday - You heard me Right! - 09/30/10 12:24 PM
Yes World War One ends on Sunday! I know you thought this thing was over on 11/11/1918; but that was a mere Armitice. On Sunday the staggering bill put at the door step of the Germans will finally be paid in full (or at least the sum it has been negotiated down to). The German's have not always been prompt with the payments. Things like the Great Depression and WWII got in the way (Wonder how they effected the German's FICO rating?). I also wonder who made the payments when the country was split after WWII; sounds like one of those

pure politics: Twiddle Dumb and Twiddle Dumber - Part One! - 09/29/10 04:36 PM
I just got finished reading a very disturbing book by Michael Lewis - The Big Short! Lewis had written other books you may have heard of including, Money Ball and The Blind Side. The Big Short is a very readable accounting of the Crash of the Bond Market and all the Wall Street firms written from the perspective of some of those who actually profited from the crash. Reading this book helped me understand some of what went on and why. It also has some real implications for our culture, economic and political future. Before I go into the book too

pure politics: What Would You Do with a Million Dollars? - 08/13/10 10:54 PM
What Would You Do with a Million Dollars? Right now there is a lot of talk about Taxing the Rich! Now if we extend the Bush Tax cuts or cut taxes further as some would argue it will put a lot of money in the hands of Rich People. When Bill Clinton was elected President I found out I was rich. He was only going to Tax the Rich and I got taxed more. I think at the time I was making about $50,000.00 per year which was pretty good in the mid 90's. What will the Rich People do
