They're baaaaack.
Or more likely, they never really left. Last year (and the year before) I wrote a warning about people renting out houses that didn't belong to them. The most recent cases come from Lake Elsinore where two families have become recent victims, according to the Sheriff's Department. 
Someone posted signs along Highway 74 advertising homes for rent on Marquise Street and another on Sunsprite. In each case, the victims called the number, met a man at the property, signed rental contracts on the spot and paid cash for first and last months rent. 'It's all fun and games until somebody loses an eye'. Did your mother ever tell you that when you were a kid? Yeah, I never understood it either - but then I never poked my eye out either so that might be the difference. It really was all fun and games.
But while nobody would accuse the real estate fraud industry of being all fun and games, at least it has been a relatively peaceful genre of crime - which may be one reason it hasn't garnered the attention in deserves from law enforcement. As our own DA told us - … (1 comments)

We have now had a meeting with our District Attorney, Rod Pacheco, and have had meetings and conversations with members of his White Collar Crime task force that encompasses Real Estate Fraud.
