republican: Call EE 4 Kneeya Redux - Nice Budget Boys & Girls. - 09/20/08 08:30 AM
9-22 Call EE 4 redux A couple days ago I wrote a post on the dysfunctional state of the political process in California, or as our fearful leader refers to it - Call EE 4 Kneeya. The post was about the state budget debacle which at that time was 80 days overdue and had the Republicans, the Democrats and our Governator locked in a battle of (weak) wills, veto threats, etc. to address our $15 Billion revenue shortfall. In case you're interested, here's the outcome as of today. Having rejected several partisan efforts at a budget with the majority Democrats trying … (3 comments)

republican: A Model for Dysfunctional Politics - Give Our Founding Fathers Some Credit. - 09/20/08 05:55 AM
9-22 balance of power A couple days ago I wrote an article about the budget mess in California entitled 'Call EE 4 Kneeya - It's All About the Balls'. If you didn't read it, you probably should because it's a ready-made primer on what happens when you combine tax & spend leadership with a tax & spend legislature - what some of you are proposing to do in November. It's not a pretty picture and if you think the nations current economic problems are tough, just give it a few years under a tax & spend regime. (By the way, the … (7 comments)

republican: Match-O-Matic Quiz - Who SHOULD You be Voting For? - 09/17/08 12:39 PM
9-17 match o matic Here's an interesting little quiz that was forwarded to me. It's a little ditty that ABC/USA Today put together that asks you to select the candidate quote that most accurately reflects your position on a number of issues in the upcoming election. It appears to me to be a reasonably accurate and unbiased representation of the candidates positions and it did a great job of reflecting my opinions. I have always considered myself to be fiscally conservative while being more socially liberal (I like to think of it as being firmly based in reality).  In this case, … (18 comments)

republican: Today's Best NY Times Headline - for laughs. - 04/08/08 10:39 AM
A biker is riding by the zoo, when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage.  Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents.
The biker  jumps off his bike, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly.
A NY Times reporter has seen the whole scene, and addressing the … (10 comments)

republican: The Republican Fisherman - 03/03/08 07:13 AM
A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."
The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 4909 minutes west longitude."
She rolled her eyes and said, "You must … (7 comments)

republican: A Fathers Advice - 02/21/08 11:11 AM
A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat, and among other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of higher taxes to support more government programs; in other words, equitable redistribution of wealth. She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what … (1 comments)
