I will be joined on stage by Dan Walters, long-time political columnist for the Sacramento Bee. Dan has spent more than 40 years in the newspaper business and

temecula real estate: Southwest California Mid-year Housing Update - 07/26/10 03:58 PM
So much good news - sales are up significantly comparing 1st half to 1st half over the past 4 years. Some cities are double or triple their volume during 2007. Granted '07 was not a stellar year but these numbers are well up over any of our previous best. Prices are also stable. Again from our peak in '07 most cities have dropped 50% - 60% like a rock. But the past two years have been relatively stable in spite of sales gyrations, a switch from REO to short-sale dominated market, stimulus, moratoria, etc. Now if we could only get the

temecula real estate: Riverside County CA - Prop 8 Tax Reduction Extended Back to 2001. - 03/11/09 08:51 PM
I spoke with Riverside County Assessor/Clerk/Recorder Chief Larry Ward yesterday about Prop 8 property tax reductions this year. He wanted everyone to know 2 things and communicate it to their clients. EVERYBODY who had an adjustment last year will automatically be re-evaluated this year. Last year, you may recall, they re-assessed every property in the county that had been purchased since 2004. Those Buyers will get another swing at reducing their taxes - and with property values off by as much as 30% in some cases, chances are good they will save a few more greenbacks this year. This year

temecula real estate: Congressman Ken Calvert - Working the Realtors Corner Again. - 03/10/09 07:03 PM
I'm not sure how I missed the big announcement from NAR about these two bills. Let's see - every time they want me to support some hunk-of-pork stimulus bill or additional spending bill, I always get the email encouraging me to contact my legislator to get it passed. But here are two bills by Assembly member Ken Calvert, the long-time sponsor of the Banks Out of Real Estate Bill, and I hear nada? H.R. 1245 brings the $15,000 buyers tax credit back to the table. You might recall this was on the table at one point of the stimulus debate only

temecula real estate: California AG Issues Prop 8 Tax Relief Scam Alert - 02/12/09 10:47 AM
In case you missed my warning last week on this subject, Attorney General Brown today issued the following warning about Property Tax Scams. There is a company right here in Murrieta offering this same service (at least there was one last year). Why somebody would pay for something they can get for free is beyond me but these shysters make it sound like if you don't use them you don't get the tax relief. Please pass this along to your clients. Use it as an opportunity to get in touch with them and offer to run comps for them at

temecula real estate: Murrieta/Temecula - Boomtowns in Waiting. - 02/09/09 06:20 PM
Forbes.com recently posted an article entitled 'America's Post-Subprime Boomtowns'. It calls out the top ten markets in the country that, in some cases have suffered the most as a result of the sub-prime melt-down, but that are poised to come roaring back after the fall. Not surprisingly, California cities are in 7 of the top 10 spots - and right up at the top of the list are Perris in #5 spot, Temecula coming in at #3 and Murrieta at #1. "Woodbridge joins Murrieta, Calif., Queen Creek, Ariz., and Port St. Lucie, Fla., on a list of towns that

temecula real estate: Declare YOUR Home a Sovereign Nation - 01/13/09 11:56 AM
Just when you think the real estate fraud scamsters are all out of business along comes a timely reminder that they're not gone, just morphed into one of a myriad of other schemes designed to separate people from their money and/or their homes. When I told a few people about this latest one their response was 'Surely nobody is stupid enough to think their home can be declared a sovereign nation?' All I can say is - desperate people do desperate things, and there's a lot of desperate people out there right now. And though I haven't seen the names of

temecula real estate: Temecula California Five Year Housing Chart: # Sales / Median $ - 01/10/09 06:24 PM
Five Year Housing Chart for Temecula, California I've recently provided a copy of this report to our local officials for the City of Temecula. This information may prove helpful in determining city budget forecasts for the coming year as they evaluate the impact the downturn in our housing market has had on their revenue stream. Of course property tax revenue is just one source of income for the city but a major one. As the state continues to wrestle with a budget that may or may not include some trade-off between property taxes and vehicle license fees, a city like Temecula

temecula real estate: NAR - Regulatory Issues Forum - 11/08/08 04:47 PM
11-8 regulatory issues After a couple rough days in Miami at the MortgageFraudBlog Conference - (you can read all about it here) - I'm up to Orlando for the NAR Conference & Expo. I hope I can make it to the AR party tonight but it's been a helluva a few days with morning to night meetings and I'm fading. It appears that most of the posts I read here about the NAR Expo focus on the social media seminars and the tech sided of things - and there is plenty of that to go around. As an NAR Director, I

temecula real estate: MortgageFraudBlog Conference - Day 2 bonus tracks - 11/07/08 10:43 PM
11-7 fraud part 3 Last blog I started a list of fraud schemes covered in Rachel Dollar's MortgageFraudBlog Conference held in Miami. We started the list with The Classic, The Straw Buyer, Air Loans and Double Sales. Here's a few more: Affinity Fraud - where the perpetrator looks to specific groups for victims. They will recruit ringleaders who have contacts at a church group, within ethnic groups, senior groups and professional groups like nurses or teachers. By virtue of the fact that they are already part of that group, they are more readily accepted and after making sure the first couple

temecula real estate: MortgageFraudBlog Conference - Day 2 - 11/06/08 10:33 PM
11-6 fraud day 2 I've gotta say right up front, I'm not used to attending seminars where other attendees are packing heat. While it might come in handy at some of the real estate conferences I've been to (especially when what's his name heads for the microphone yet again), we're a pretty tame bunch considering our reputation. However, as I mentioned yesterday, at Rachel Dollar's MortgageFraudBlog.com Conference, the audience is heavy with law enforcement and a few heaters are much in evidence. It does make you a little wary and you don't nod off as much when the guy next to

temecula real estate: MortgageFraudBlog Conference - Day 1 - 11/05/08 09:51 PM
11-5 mtg fraud conf Ahhhh, Miami. You know you're in a different world when the muzak in the hotels is Caribbean and you can get a good pressed Cuban sandwich anywhere. It's a long slog here from SoCal - even longer when you get to spend an extra 2 1/2 hours sitting on the runway in Dallas while they put new brakes on your airplane. Back in the day they'd roll out the drink cart for that little 'inconvenience', nowadays they just drop the price of their snacks from $4 to $3 for a 'huge' chocolate chip cookie and thank you

temecula real estate: The Real Estate Market is Always Good... for somebody. - 08/30/08 04:51 PM
8-28 always good for somebody Reprinted from: Well, it’s time for our mid-year by-the-numbers update, a chance to take a deep breath and see how the real estate market is shaping up for our little corner of the universe here in Southwest California. As a regular reader you know that I have been cautiously optimistic this year in spite of ongoing bad news on the national economic front. I tend to take anything I read in the mainstream media with at least a grain of salt, preferably followed by a shot of Cuervo and a squeeze of lime, and that philosophy
