10 Questions: Darel Ansley of Peoples Bank - 03/26/07 10:04 AM
As promised this is the first interview in my series, 10 Questions. I hope you find it educational and enlightening. Darel Ansley can also be found on Active Rain here. •1. What questions aren't consumers asking their mortgage lender? There is an important question, but more important is who do you ask the question of? I suggest shopping around and getting 3 or 4 Good Faith Estimates (GFE) for a potential purchase. Get these in person, because out of these interviews and GFEs, you are going to learn who you can trust. Once you find that lending professional, you have someone you can (3 comments)
Washington State Parks Winter Recreation Plan - 03/23/07 11:14 AM
Washington State Parks is taking public comments for their Winter Recreation Plan. Whether you are a skier, a snowshoer, a birder, or have a 6 year old who likes to sled, you really should be heard. In the Leavenworth area we are lucky to have Lake Wenatchee State park which is a winter recreation haven. They groom a number of nordic ski trails - South Park (adjoins Kahler Glen Golf ), North Park, Chiwawa Loop, and the new addition up Nason Ridge. The sledding area for kids (of all ages) at the South Park is very popular. Of course the park (2 comments)
Online Spring Cleaning - 03/23/07 10:38 AM
Recently I posted that my website www.IcicleCreekHomes.com had been redesigned. We are really happy with how good it looks and also how easy it is for the consumer to find what they are looking for. The entry has 3 choices right off the bat - contact us, search for properties, or read the blog. Simple and easy. This morning I cleaned up my other blog www.myLeavenworth.com I have been thinking that the colored background was making it hard to read. I chose a simpler Blogger template and I think it looks much better and easier to read. Of course, Blogger being Blogger I (2 comments)
Wenatchee A Green City- Not so much.. - 03/22/07 10:27 AM
When the Wenatchee World printed an article that said the city was ranked #5 in the country for green cities I was pretty shocked. When I first moved to Leavenworth, I joked with friends from Western Washington that recycling was illegal. Andy Dappen of WenatcheeOutdoors was pretty shocked too. If only it were true. Unfortunately, all I can say about the March 2007 issue of Country Homemagazine that ranked Wenatchee as the fifth greenest city in America is, "What were they smoking?" writes Andy You can read the post in it's entirety on MyLeavenworth.com (0 comments)
Buying an Airbus 380? - 03/21/07 07:40 PM
Thinking of buying a new Airbus 380 with all that money you have saved from your paper route? For a mere $319 Million Dollars you and your 500+ closest relatives and friends can travel long distance in style. (Save a little more money for the fuel as the tank is pretty good sized.)On the other hand you could invest in real estate. Unlike this pretty piece of personal property, real property like houses and condos tends to appreciate over time. We all know that cars lose a lot of their value as soon as they are driven off the lot? How (2 comments)
Using an online lender can CO$T you Money! - 03/21/07 04:19 PM
I have always been an advocate of using local lenders. They understand the neighborhoods and some of the nuances of rural real estate like septic systems and wells.Sometimes a buyer goes with their own gut and gets a online lender or an out of area lender, most of the time it works out, but sometimes not.I like a lender who is accountable. If I can march into their office to set them straight, they are accountable. If they can meet me at my office after hours they are accountable. If they know I will see them at Realtor functions, the grocery (8 comments)
Website Upgrade - 03/20/07 08:04 PM
My website has many names. Whether you first came upon it as www.LakeWenatcheeCabins.com or perhaps www.CashmereHomes.com or even rarer yet www.GeordieRomer.com they all are my website. It started and still is a really nice template site from Cevado (my favorite web geeks on Lake Chelan) I needed an upgrade- something that yelled out 2007 instead of 2002. I contacted my favorite local photographer www.JohnMarshallPhoto.com and asked him for a knockout photo to use. (I will have them put the credit on their ASAP John..) It is a great shot of apple blossoms and the Enchantment Mountains (Cascades) from North Road just outside (4 comments)

Cashmere Washington Real Estate- why aren't homes selling? - 03/06/07 07:37 PM
Allyson got this bit of fan mail today... "So what is up with the blog? I notice that the frequency of postings has decreased--I rely on it to keep up to date on the greater Leavenworth real estate market--I am starting to get the shakes--when will we get a new post?" This is for you Holly.... I have been a little surprised that there hasn't been much movement in the usually crazy Cashmere housing market. Currently, there are 10 homes on the market in Cashmere under $300,000. This is about a 3.5 month supply. Clearly a strong seller's market by most approximations. Yet, there is (1 comments)
